ERICE, Sicily – We marveled and laughed at the total animal freedom of being beautiful and fresh in a faraway land.

It's Columbus Day. Note to self: Chart new territories.
CAIRO – Eclectic galleries, fair trade stores, and the occasional cupcake shop. Zamalek is Cairo's dynamic, up-and-coming neighborhood.

SICILY – A two-week drive around Sicily is the best way to get away, be somewhere beautiful, experience history and food and blue skies and waters without having to take yourself too seriously.

I wish Linnen existed when I used to live around the corner from this Prenzlauer Berg inn and cafe. It's super-charming, whimsical, eclectic, down-home, and very cozy. The rooms are bright and airy, very tidy, and a great bang for the buck. It's the perfect place to pop by for a laid-back breakfast bite on the way to Mauerpark. Tony, one of the bearded proprietors, might be the nicest person in all of Berlin. And he makes a mean coffee.
