Sleep better to lose more weight

Surprisingly, poor sleep could be a big reason you aren't losing weight. Research conducted at the University of Chicago has indicated sleep deprivation can lead to greater hunger and appetite. Less sleep can also decrease your dieting willpower and can even make it harder to lose fat.

The key, researches say, is that sleep deprivation affects the level of two important hormones, ghrelin and leptin, that are tied to weight loss. These two hormones alter your sense of being full and how much fat mass you have.

Breathe better, move better

Breathing isn’t something we often think about, yet how we breathe can deeply affect how we move and cope with pain. A CNN report offers six exercises you can do to learn how to breathe more effectively from a yoga trainer who works professional athletes in all major sports. Proper breathing allows these athletes to move better and also focus more.

Though you might think you already known how to breathe or that it isn't necessary if you’re not a pro athlete, more effective breathing could mean less stress, less tension, better posture and ultimately less pain.

Most of the suggested breathing exercises are built into yoga moves, but there’s a simple seated exercise you can do which involves holding your hands at the center of your chest, then pulling the muscles below your shoulder blades down and inhaling, pausing and exhaling for five counts each.
