So I just made my own URL shortening service that uses a domain I control.

It's Pretty neat, it didn't take much time at all. It's very quick to add new URLs through the web admin interface, a bookmarklet or the API. You also get analytics on any clicks. There's also a WordPress plugin that automatically creates a short url for all new posts.

Check out http://natejon.es/r/yourls for more info.

Let me know if you would be interested in a walkthrough/tutorial and I would be happy to post one.

Edit:
One benefit I didn't realize until is was finished... If you setup the shortener on a subdirectory of your site, it's really nice when you're adding links.

Only typing:
<a href="/r/linkedin">

Feels so much better than typing:
<a href="http://www.linkedin.com/in/nathanrjones">.

Want to tick off someone with a Microsoft Online Services (Exchange) email account?

Go to link below and try logging in with their email 5 times. You'll lock them out of their email account for 15 minutes and there isn't a thing they, or there administrator, can do about it.

Bonus points if you setup a script to do it every 10 minutes. Can you say bye-bye email?

Thanks Microsoft for making Denial-Of-Service attacks so easy and making it so much fun administering Exchange accounts =D

Per Microsoft's site:
"After five failed tries with an invalid user name or an incorrect password, users are locked out for 15 minutes. This lockout period cannot be manually reset by you or another service administrator"

Full Disclosure: The CEO for a company I administer can't access his email because of this wonderful policy and there isn't a thing I can do about it.

Frustrated that you can't +1 a post on Google+ and have it show up on your list of +1's on your profile?

Well if you're using Google Chrome (you should be) and you install the extension below, you can just click on the timestamp for a post and then click the +1 Button in your Omnibar. It'll share on your profile. Sometime's it doesn't work the first time so just press the button till it turns blue.

I haven't seen anyone else figure this out so please reshare to get the word out.

edit: As an example, I +1'd this post. View my profile to see it.

I can't believe you can already buy +1's, this seems so underhanded. This site is selling them in packages up to 2000 +1's, however they are currently sold out due to high demand.

This undermines the +1 system and I hope Google finds an effective way to ban it but the creators were definitely clever and opportunistic, I'll give them that.

Is there no way to search your stream? I just tried to find a post I remembered someone posting about and there doesn't seem to be any way to find it.

Ironic that Google's social network has problems with searching for things.

Google+ for iOS is finally approved.
iPhone, meet Google+

Share just the right stuff, with just the right circles :-)

This app should be rolling out over the next few hours. Try getting it here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/google/id447119634?ls=1&mt=8

Is there any way I can take a circle out of my main stream? I love following people like +Chris Pirillo and +Leo Laporte but they sure flood my stream.

I would love to be able to see all posts by everyone BUT the Following circle in my stream and just see their posts when I select their circle. +Joseph Smarr or +Jonathan Terleski is there any way to do this currently or is this feature being considered for the future?

If you haven't already, check out Google's feedback engine. It's spectacular, probably the best I've ever seen. Just click Send feedback at the bottom.

I wish I could find a bug just to have a chance to use it.
