I love open air art, it is so amazing, it is temporary and yet those who are lucky enough to see something like these pieces, are forever transformed by their surrealness... :)

Among the sites of Petra- for me a fascinating place to visit, I also of course want to see the pyramids in the surrounding areas, not just at Giza. I am so bewitched by Petra and the settlement there, there are some fine photo's of the place... not a good site to visit on Google Earth unfortunately, but even there, there are many PICS donated to the site from previous visitors. I like Google Earth when it has the place laid out as you become familiar with where to find all the sites but this tourism site does a fine job of telling you about all the sites to see there too.. Enjoy! thttp://www.visitpetra.jo/Gallery/PhotoGallery.aspx

Horseshoe Bend, Colorado River, Arizona

Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona, in the United States.

Horseshoe Bend is located 5 miles (8.0 km) downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, about 4 miles (6.4 km) southwest of Page.

It is accessible via hiking a 1.5-mile (2.4 km) round trip from U.S. Route 89, but an access road also reaches the geological structure, as it is part of a state park. The Horseshoe Bend can be viewed from the steep cliff above.

The overlook is 4,200 feet (1,300 m) above sea level and the Colorado River is at 3,200 feet (980 m) above sea level, making it a 1,000-foot (300 m) drop.
