TWENTY PAGES. Too bad it's not twenty pages in twenty four hours. I ate an apple. Uh. With candy on it. So it probably wasn't all that healthy, all things considered, but at least apple, right?

They say 'write what you know'. That clearly means I must write a story from the point of view of a housekeeper in a small town hospital in which a gibbering epidemic of madness heralds the rise of the great Cthlulu.

Most 'end of the world' stories seem to start with something along the lines of "this could be the end of the world as we know it", but that's not where the story starts.

The story starts when a man staggers through the automatic doors, snow crusted in his hair and blood streaming from his eyes, blathering nonsense. He stumbles, missing the dull gray vinyl chairs entirely, before falling face-first onto the floor. The only coherent thing about him is his Alberta Health Care card clutched between two trembling white fingers clearly suffering from exposure to the elements.

The next day, the main character comes in to work to find the hospital in pandemic lockdown mode. Under emergency situations, you're supposed to bring your emergency nametag card, but it's a small town where everyone knows everyone and the rules are ignored.

She goes to work, starting the day by cleaning the ER, where the once white walls are now covered in bloody runes.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY WRITING WHAT I KNOW. Why didn't I come up with this pre-November? I could blow this story out of the water.

Introduction
Steampunk, writer, artist, and housekeeper. There can't be all that many of me, can there?
Bragging rights
I write and draw for the webcomic Between Places. My notority includes breaking spellcheck in Word (why yes, you can have too many misspelt words!), winning NaNoWriMo every year since 2005 with more words than necessary (far more than necessary), and um, cleaning toilets. Oh well.

Now, I rank getting my hair done about on the same level as going to the dentist, but Becky did a lovely job cutting my hair, figuring out what I wanted done from my vague description, and not only that, but my hair has never hung so nicely. Most haircuts I've got have just made my hair shorter, but her work made my hair more cooperative, more attractive, lighter weight though still long, and somehow tamed its wild frizz! I've never had my hair this nice before, I'd happily go back. The location is nice, a good downtown location and easy to find. Also looks like the place to go for hair extensions. While I was getting my hair done there were multiple ladies who came in to get sew ins and as far as I could tell, the stylist doing them knew her stuff; they left looking great too. I didn't actually think it was possible to make my hair look nice but somehow she managed it. :D Great job.
