and WOW, these arms for the Governor General of Canada. I LOVE the way they made the mantling look like maple leaves. Sublime...

Just looking through one of +Marc-André Laverdière favorite sites and ran across this nice looking badge. But how they ever came up with Vert for the field color in this emblazonment I have no idea. Looks perfectly Sable to me...

These are arms by another artist. Ignoring the fact that it has a name across the bottom, indicating some degree of ignorance, the emblazonment is quite elegant. The blazon might be a challenge however. Here is what I came up with for the blazon of the shield:

"Vert, an Osier Tree couped as a Calvary Cross with an offshoot from the sinister nombril point encircling Or."

Agree or Disagree?

p.s. I only know it is an Osier Tree because the armiger told me it was...

Time once again for double check of my blazon. I used to not ask for opinions on this as my own were quite strong, but I have had excellent suggestions from this group and in particular +Marc-André Laverdière on how to improve them. So here is the guy who wanted something Italian for a crest. He picked the Italian Wolf which has very unusual coloring and why I opted for a more realistic crest, even though I usually stay away from that. Anyway here are the arms and below my blazon.

Quarterly Sanguine and Or: 1st 5 Treble Clefs all attached at the base in Mullet Argent; 2nd Gyronny Or and Sable; 3rd a Cross Crosslet Sable; 4th an Anvil Argent. Upon a Helm mantled Sable doubled Or from a Wreath of these Colours is set for a Crest, an Italian Wolf affronte Proper. The motto Ego Autem Et Domus Mea Serviemus Domino (As For Me And My House, We Shall Serve The Lord) to be carried in an Escroll above and below the Shield.

Question, I have a client who wants to represent his Italian heritage with the crest as we have done the rest of the arms and he's happy with it and he doesn't want to use the colors of the flag. Any ideas on a good crest that might somehow represent Italy, without putting the flying spaghetti monster up there???
