A fire broke out in the engine room onboard Oceania Cruises' INSIGNIA around 8:30 a.m. today while the ship was docked in St. Lucia.  According to Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, Oceania's parent company, the fire was contained and extinguished in the engine room.

A South Korean trawler sank in the frigid waters of the Bering Sea on Monday.  Of the 60 crew members aboard the commercial fishing vessel, there are only seven known survivors and at least one known death.  52 members of the crew remain missing.

The captain of the ill-fated Costa Concordia made his first court appearance this week in Italy. Schettino steered the cruise ship into a reef off the coast of Giglio Island on Jan. 13, 2012 which led to the death of 32 passengers, most of whom drowned inside the vessel.
