Went there for dinner the other night, worst meal I have ever paid for, except for the soup. Soup was Yankee bean and excellent. It got my hopes up, but they were soon dashed. Salad was OK but overly drenched in dressing. and small. I ordered the BBQ chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli. the chicken was overcooked and dry. All they did was pour BBQ sauce over the cooked chicken and called it Barbequed chicken, cheaters. The mashed pot came on a separate plate. Looked like a flat pool of grits. No attempt to fluff them up or put gravy on. The broccoli was the worst part of the meal. It was dark green and cold when it arrived. I put butter on it but it wouldn't melt, which always makes me mad. I asked the waiter if they had a microwave, and could they heat it up. Yes, and when it came back I realized why it was cold. It was barely cooked. I couldn't even cut the stalks. At the end the waiter asked if I wanted my mostly untouched meal wrapped to go. I said no, I didn't like it at all. Then he argued with me about the broccoli. told me 80% of their customers like undercooked broccoli and made it sound like I want my veg overcooked. I might go back for the Yankee bean soup, but probably not. I think I spent $20 on that wretched meal.

I like that they are 24/7 and have wifi (though slow). The waiter was very adamant about the non-substitution policy, almost to the point of being mean. Which makes it not such a friendly spot for those who are both vegan and gluten free.

Worse food ever. The fried chicken was horrible with no taste and very dry. the mashed potatoes tasted like school lunch quality. my girlfriend had fettucini Alfredo that was bland. Our son had The cheeseburger and fries and he didn't even like it. How can you mess up a cheese burger? Never again will eat here that's for sure.

The Waverly Restaurant was packed, so we took it to be a sign that they served really great diner fare. Alas. Bacon was forgotten on a breakfast sandwich, which was then unceremoniously ripped open and returned with torn bread and butchered insides. Fries are overly salted and meager for their price tag. Food is forgettable. Service is very hasty to greet you and take your order, though they're nowhere to be found when you want your check. As far as diners go, better food and prices can be found elsewhere.

This is actually a great place to dine! Been there a few times, and although it's just a diner - the food is nice and the service is great! The place itself is nicely decorated and the prices are really good for NYC! If I'm hungry and I'm in the area, this is the first place I would go to for a quick, tasty, cheap meal.
