These days I am literally flying more then driving, or anything else for that matter. But living up here in Alaska, that is just the norm. Everyone I meet is just a grown child with grown up toy plane.
I definitely get inspired by some of Chris Burkard plane shots and deep down I almost didn't want to shoot this. But the thing is, this stuff isn't planned or setup. Just boys and their toys, wanting a morning shower in the lake!
Cheers to the Chelatna Lake Lodge for the weekend, Desi for the jump and Skydance Aviation for showing up out of nowhere with an incredible painted plane that makes any photographer drool a little!

Canadian Harvard Mk IV and a JRF-5 Grumman Goose flying by Augustine Volcano, Alaska

What an incredible 4 day trip down the Aleutian chain. The Commemorative Air Force flew to Dutch Harbor a few days before us to host an event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the attack on Dutch Harbor and honor the remaining veterans and their families. The two World War II aircraft you see here were flown there to be on display, a Canadian Harvard Mk IV and a privately owned JRF-5 Grumman Goose. A few days later our group was setting off in hopes to make it to Dutch Harbor to document this all. However, we got stuck in Cold Bay for 3 nights due to weather and never actually made it all the way there. Mostly because we were in a float plane and not flying commercial. We knew it was too late to go there, so we decided to just meet up with the 2 aircraft in Cold Bay and flew in formation a few times while following them to back to Anchorage. That made the whole trip worth it, being able to get them in formation in front of Augustine Volcano (The photo above), the twin Pavlof volcanoes and much more was one of the most incredible opportunities I have ever been able to document. Huge thanks to Spencer at CAF for setting this up, the CAF pilots, the crew, The Cold Bay Lodge for taking us in for 3 days and our random group of 4; Hogan (Aegis Strategies Alaska & Lucida Group of Alaska) for his plane and piloting us down there, Jeff and Soren.

This past March I checked off a bucket list aerial flight with Sky Helicopters. Ever since I started flying, I had my eyes set of shooting above Vancouver, BC. I just love the layout of the city. Maybe because it reminds me a little bit of San Francisco. We were even a bit lucky and got some great sunset color before having to land.
