Excellent.
The Galactic Core of the Milky Way rises to the east, silhouetting and an old fishing boat that ran aground in a storm. The boat has been abandoned and certainly makes for an interesting subject to photograph, so I headed out to the location one night and camped right next to the boat. I must admit it was a little freaky with that big old abandoned fishing boat there in the middle of nowhere, so I decided to call this image "Ghost Ship"

For the tech heads - This image is a single exposure photograph - I climbed up onto the boat that night and illuminated the cabin with a simple headlamp.

Equipment and settings:
Canon 6d, Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L - 30 second shutter at f/2.8 ISO 6400

Higher resolution on +500px  https://500px.com/photo/101323555/ghost-ship-by-mark-gee

The Little Big Horn, Custer's Last Stand. The monument is over a mass grave of over 200 soldiers. The officers, including Custer, where taken and buried elsewhere (Arlington for Custer), the stones near the monument are where they found their mutilated bodies. The National Cemetery which was erected adjacent is the burial place of many Indian War soldiers as well as soldiers from both World Wars.

20 years after his tragic accident, let's enjoy Ayrton Senna going from 5th to 1st on the first lap at Donington in 1993; in the rain.

I'm resharing this, puts thing in perspective.
Here's a really awesome map of our Solar System, with the scale set at our Moon being 1 pixel across.

I think +Pamela L. Gay said it best that communicating science well requires a good mix of science AND creativity. This interactive map has plenty of both!

The scaling is accurate, and I love the little "comments" between destinations in the solar system. For those with a short attention span, there are icons on the top you can click to view the major destinations.

I'd urge you all to actually take the time to scroll through the entire map. Remember, sometimes the journey is more enjoyable than the destination. ;)

Great exposure!
Moon & Galaxy

This 6 image square Panorama was taken on the morning of December 29 2013 4.19am where a Waning Crescent at 16% was peaking over the cliff of Soldiers Beach.

Next to the Moon was the Milky Way Galaxy still rising in the East.

I love how early it was by myself watching the Moon, Milky Way and Sunrise. Soon after a big southerly buster came up from Sydney and i was not there to witness that.
