In his comments about the Trayvon Martin killing, I wish President @barackobama could state the real problem: the gated community. We are building barriers to each other in the guise of boundaries around ourselves, to the point that we are threatened by those who don't look like us. The country born in 1776 was about equality, not elitism. I'd like our country to revisit the spirit of our founding, preserved so painfully in our civil war, and mitigate human nature's tendency to pursue power over one another. We have the means to resurrect the values so eloquently articulated in America's founding documents. We should all work towards that.
