Saturday at 9 a.m. on New Classical Tracks, Avi Avital describes how he worked very diligently to capture the magic of Venice on his recent album, 'Vivaldi'. Hear more about this new recording, and enter for a chance to win a copy of the CD.
To record the music of Venetian composer Antonio Vivaldi, mandolinist Avi Avital recruited the Venice Baroque Orchestra. "Recording this Venetian music with an orchestra that's actually all from Venice just added this extra spice to it," Avital explains.

Ryan Thompson is a PhD candidate in musicology at the University of Minnesota, with a special interest in ludomusicology. What is that, you ask? Ludomusicology is a growing field in which musicologists study the impact of music in video games.

The Vintage Band Festival brings 12 hours of brass performances to Bridge Square in Northfield, Minn., on Saturday, Aug. 1.
On Saturday, Aug. 1, Northfield, Minn., once again plays host to the Vintage Band Festival, a full day of concerts that sees 12 brass bands -- ranging from mid-19th-century styles to mariachi -- fill the city's Bridge Square with music.
