This is an exciting update on Sisters — a beautiful Chihuahua/Doxie mix.

So hard for me to believe someone could abandon this beautiful little angel in the wilderness.

Carmen and Maya now roomies. Maya is a bundle of joy. She smiles all the time and is very outgoing. Carmen is the opposite. Her joy is watching Maya live a happy life, like a true parent. #deltarescue

Somebody tossed out little Carmen in the desert as a puppy.

How does an innocent little angel find food and water in the desert? So many die of dehydration and sunstroke alone. Carmen found one of our feeding stations so she was lucky. #deltarescue

This is Maya she was an abandoned puppy dumped in the desert. At a few months old Maya had a life threatening medical problem . . . she was born a diabetic....Because she can’t stop eating everything in sight, we keep a close watch on Maya and we feed her a strict diet on a strict schedule.

This is Suzy as a puppy when she was rescued - and 5 years at DELTA Rescue.

From her physical condition when we rescued her, I can tell you that as a puppy Suzy was locked in a room without light, like a POW . . . and with hardly anything to eat for days on end, for at least the first nine months of her life.

Because of her constant hunger and weakness, Suzy caught distemper. And she miraculously survived the disease without treatment, part of her face became affected by the virus, and her left side did not grow as much as her right. Her nose is mis-shapen on the left because of this. Suzy also had tick fever from being covered in deep desert ticks. She watched her siblings die a lingering, suffering death from the same diseases.

But she now feels so good, for the first time in her life, that when I went take her pictures for you, she was so grateful to be alive -- to be fed and LOVED for the first time in her life -- that she licked my dusty boots clean. To me, this was the real heart breaker.

What pierced my heart with sadness was that Suzy thinks she has to be this subservient to deserve our love. This is what cruel people have led her to believe, and this is what we will spend the rest of her life turning around.

This is Bobo. Someone dumped this little poodle in the desert when he was a year old. How can anyone just toss such a precious animal like an old shoe?

Bobo has diabetes, an underactive thyroid, and Cushing’s disease. If you have poodle-children, this sounds familiar, right?! And so does his chronic tearing.

We treat Bobo daily for each of these conditions. And when he is old, we will have treated him for 14 or 15-years.

It is the treatment that will keep him here for that long. And it is our intense love that makes all our angels fight to stay with us in their physical form for as long as possible.

With your gift today, and your help into the future, Bobo and the others will be safe no matter what.
