Joy BURGER BAR
361 6th Ave, New York, NY 10014
This place serves up some simple, but elegant and delicious burgers. Definitely one of my top ten favorite burgers in NYC (which, I think, is saying a lot)! There are three sizes of beef patties to choose from, depending on your hunger level. Whichever you pick, I definitely recommend adding avocado to your burger. And then, let your imagination run wild — the choices for toppings and sauces are a-plentiful and you really can't go wrong with any of them. The fries are solid too so be sure to get a side to accompany your burger.

Solid new spot.

Houston Hall
222 W Houston St, New York, 10014
A great large-scale space with industrial-inspired decor and a warm, cozy environment. It's perfect for gathering the group (e.g. for celebrating a birthday party), especially as it's new and still seems to be less crowded than other spaces of comparable size. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Very fun Community Dinner here!

Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya
187 Orchard St, New York, NY 10002
This LES offshoot of Blue Ribbon serves up some delicious sushi in a cool, big-enough-to-seat-you-quickly environment. There are some great non-sushi items as well, particularly the fried chicken wings! The space is elegant and allows for a fun dinner with a big group, or a casual bite to eat at the bar. And if you're at the bar, be sure to make friends with the sushi chef, and you might be treated to a small, special dish on the house! Overall, this is a great spot if you're in the mood for Japanese. P.S. I tried the pork ribs on my latest visit — awesome!

Big Gay Ice Cream Shop
61 Grove St, New York, NY 10014
Three words: blood orange doughnut. It's incredible. Run, don't walk. I didn't try the ice cream, but it looked very legitimate. The staff is friendly and has great charisma, which makes the experience of stopping in quite fun.

Cool spot!

I ordered the burger, which I found to be both unique and quite tasty. The bun compliments the meat and toppings well. The atmosphere of the restaurant is charming and perhaps best suited to a smaller party or date.

I really like this place for a Friday or Saturday dinner before going out (but then again, it's also great for a brunch after a night out). Very social environment (with lots of hip patrons) and a friendly staff. This place serves some unique chicken dishes (among others), which I'd recommend trying. A great neighborhood spot for those in the area, but definitely also a worthwhile destination for those from other hoods.

Sat once at the bar at Spasso - a great experience, which I would highly recommend. The other time I sat at a table in the window - also great. The food is delectable and the service is professional.
