A photo of sundown in Tobago, during my visit there this week. It's an amazing place; beautiful, authentic, non-touristy. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit a great island off the beaten path.

Here's my list of the 30 Best Singles of 2011, along with a brief essay on the year in music and my thoughts on why Rebecca Black's "Friday" is probably the year's most significant record (don't worry--it's not on my Top 30). http://s-curverecords.com/home/blogs/steves-best-of-2011

Heading to Tel Aviv today for the DLD Conference in Jaffa. Tuesday I'm interviewing Israeli music star David Broza re how he funded his latest album through kickstarter; Wednesday I'm hosting a panel on music in the digital age with Yoni Bloch, people from Clear Channel & MTV as panelists. Should be interesting.

RIP Sylvia Robinson, best known as the founder of Sugarhill Records, the first rap label--but also an artist in her own right, first in the 50's with "Love Is Strange," a duet with Mickey "Guitar" Baker and then in the 70's with her worldwide hit "Pillow Talk," both of which are attached here for your listening pleasure: Love is strange - Mickey and Sylvia
