Chanukah in the Square FREE - From 16 December 2014 to 28 December 2014

Celebrate the Jewish festival of lights in Trafalgar Square, at Chanukah in the Square.

Watch as the first light on the nine-branched menorah (a special candelabra) is lit to celebrate the start of the festival of Chanukah, which means “dedication”. This year the candle lighting will take place from 18.00 on Tuesday 16 December, after which an additional light on the menorah will be lit each night of the eight-day celebration. Although the festival ends on Wednesday 24 December, the menorah will remain in the square until 28 December.

In addition to the lighting ceremony, there will be plenty of fun things to do, from tucking into free doughnuts to live performances in the square on 16 December.

Chanukah in the Square is presented by the Jewish Leadership Council, London Jewish Forum and Chabad. It is also supported by the Mayor of London.

London celebrates The Queen's official birthday in June each year with Trooping the Colour, a fantastic military parade that has taken place in London since 1820.
