Cute little spot! Food was good. The clam chowder comes with a lot of clams! Fish and Chips is not my favorite. It had a lot of batter and almost tasted burnt.

Wow great everything was fresh and light. Had an oyster sampler and gumbo and finished off with key lime all some of the best I had. Great people and service as well made a great experience.

Without reservations, we came in a party of 5 at noon-ish and was sat immediately. The restaurant is small with only several tables of 4 but we made it work for us. There's also a few seats at the bar. I didn't try the oysters but did have a few peruvian scallops. Those were so fresh and sweet. I could easily eat a dozen or two. The mahi mahi fish tacos were good but not the best I've had, same with the grilled swordfish. I would definitely come back for just the raw stuff. parking: plenty of metered spots available during the lunch hours.

FWD is a lovely small location right in Downtown Manhattan Beach. The decor and vibe is positive, and it serves tapas style food that is primarily focused on the sea. There is a selection of oysters, and since it's chef run you will often see edits and additions to the menu. There is a small bar area you can sit and eat at, with great mixologists and a good selection of beer. I may be one of the few to rate FWD 3 stars - but don't get me wrong - enjoy the place. The food can sometimes be hit or miss - the crabcakes can be overwhelmingly peppery, the lobster pie low in lobster content. With that being said, the menu has some delicious treats. If you're looking for good seafood in MB, get a reservation (you'll need one!) and order some oysters at FWD!

Oysters and Champagne by the beach, what more can you ask. Great chowder and fresh fish options as well. I wasn't a huge fan of the fish tacos. Good but not great. Everything else was spot on though.

Bottom Line: Stop by, enjoy some great seafood, bring your wallet. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Per her suggestion, had the scallops on the half shell. Were excellent. Might have liked it even more than the self-made oyster sampler. Pricing is a tiny bit steep, but quality of ingredients was fantastic. Servings were a tiny bit larger than tapas-style, we were expecting more, but then again, ingredients and prep were spot on. Had a diver scallop special that was excellent, and Key Lime and Pretzel Chocolate Bread Pudding were excellent, with me siding for the Key Lime Open Table only has reservations for a limited number of people, walk-ins are encouraged. Place fills up fast.

This place rocks for seafood. The chef has a Michelin star in Seafood which is pretty amazing. The clam chowder is one of the best that I have ever had. It is infused with bacon and it is a little different than traditional creamy chowder. I always like to get their platters because it is a mix of almost everything that they do really well. If you are not a seafood eater this restaurant is not for you. The seating is limited so try to get there early before the dinner rush starts.
