- TelePerformance UK, not quite a workfare sweatshop providing the entire customer service department of a highly respected (unmentionable) chain of Department StorespresentTaking almost continuous abuse from furious customers criticising appalling service and endless problems, screw-ups and delays and being constantly harassed by (IMO) arrogant, untrained, over-promoted juvenile 'managers' (ha!) whilst being expected to "continuously improve" on all KPI's (Key Performance Indicators: average handling time, engagement, empathy, first call resolution, etc - many of which preclude the possibility of achieving the others). Trying to compensate (in under six minutes) for the problems created (IMO) due to the constant stream of new staff screwing up customer orders due to lack of training, experience and support because the experienced staff keep leaving the company in disgust at the intolerable management attitudes (should you not fall into the kiss-arse category of staff). They expect (IMO) the very best possible robotic staff for the lowest possible company commitment, outlay and pay. Personally "I'd say you pay peanuts you get monkeys" but they don't think like that. Nice from a company perspective to wish for, but slavery isn't presently legal in the UK. It's safe to say I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. Just my opinion of course and there may be people that like it - 'managers' probably, but I'd HATE for anyone to get the WRONG impression of the company. Let's just say, that in my opinion it shares joint 1st place for the most dysfunctional company I've ever worked for in over thirty years with a 5 Star restaurant where I was working when I was twenty where the kitchen was about ten times too small for the size of the restaurant, the manager was a timid, spoiled little twenty-something rich girl whose daddy owned the restaurant and who couldn't run a tap without needing someone to help her, kitchen staff screaming at one another, knives flying about in temper, supplies failing to be ordered, an eighteen year old sous-chef who had to take over when the Head Chef walked out who struggled to cope by being an arrogant arse to everyone. Mind you I think the restaurant paid better.

I'm a former Computer systems guy. I live in Glasgow having recently moved down from Caithness. I'm interested in photography, landscapes, art and architecure, I love music and play keyboards (pretty badly). I like many many types of music. I'm interested in all things geeky and love my Android smartphone. I always stand up for the underdog though this tends to be more with dry humour than heat these days. I've no problem with people following, but please, if you want me to follow back, do have a few posts to give me a reason to follow back. :)

Nice wee comedy/live music venue with very friendly staff and friendly atmosphere. For myself a highlight of the beers selection was superb Czech lagers Budweiser Budvar and Staropramen on draught as well as other excellent beers and cider etc (not that I was looking after spotting the Budvar). Very reasonable prices. I liked my visit and plan on making this a regular haunt.
