I think the time is close to say goodbye to my little man, my best friend of fifteen years. I'm pretty sure he had a stroke yesterday and he's having difficulty moving and is wandering, distressed and confused. I'm going to the vet later, but I think Russell is not likely to fully recover and will need care full-time so he doesn't hurt himself and so he can have some quality of life.
My heart is near breaking :(

quite right. Personally I think anyone voting Tory should automatically have to pay an extra 20% tax, with a 90% tax rate for the top tax rate.
Price the Tories out of Scotland! >;-}
The SNP rejects a call by the Scottish Conservatives to rule out raising income tax in Scotland higher than the rates and bands in the rest of the UK.

Did someone pick that photo of Ruth on purpose? Right after this John Swinney quote?

"... we believe tax should be structured on the basis of ability to pay."

everything's dying.
The Pacific ocean appears to be dying and the entire food chain collapsing. Huge numbers of wild animal populations are dying as a result. While natural causes in the environment are partially to blame, so too are the corporations of man; there is no doubt that the effects of... #foodchaincollapse

bit of an overreaching and unrealistic opinion of themselves imo.
LibDems aren't "wild flowers", they're weeds.
The Liberal Democrats walk out of the SNP-led coalition running Highland Council.

I've read similar suggestions elsewhere about munitions dump. Really we need a Geiger counter there and proper coverage.
A highly radioactive, low explosive blast wouldn't necessarily kill immediately, it would take time depending on the amount of radioactivity. Even close to ground zero the effects could take days or weeks.

SCOTLAND’S only Tory MP will be able to veto decisions made by the Scottish Parliament.

The Scotland Bill, published yesterday morning requires Scottish Ministers to obtain the permission of the Secretary of State for Scotland if they want to use any of the new powers.

Repeatedly throughout the bill and the explanatory notes, Scottish Ministers are told they “must have consulted with, and obtained the agreement of, the Secretary of State”.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has reacted angrily to what she said amounted to vetoes, and said the Scotland Bill, “falls short in almost every area”.

Speaking at First Minister’s Questions, Sturgeon said the bill did not live up to the agreement made in the Smith Commission.

Sturgeon said: “The UK Government, I think, had a very clear test today to deliver a Bill which lived up in full, in spirit and in letter, to the Smith Commission.

“The Bill has been published within the last hour or so and, from my glance at it, I think it falls short in almost every area.”

Answering a question from one of her backbenchers, Sturgeon said: “The bill does not contain the full welfare powers recommended by the Smith commission and it retains – unbelievably, given the amount of concern that was expressed – a veto for the UK Government on key policy areas. If, for example, the Scottish Parliament wants to abolish the Bedroom Tax, as I hope that we do, the UK Government would still have a right of veto over whether we could. I am sorry, but that is not devolution.”....

I'm a former Computer systems guy. I live in Glasgow having recently moved down from Caithness. I'm interested in photography, landscapes, art and architecure, I love music and play keyboards (pretty badly). I like many many types of music. I'm interested in all things geeky and love my Android smartphone. I always stand up for the underdog though this tends to be more with dry humour than heat these days. I've no problem with people following, but please, if you want me to follow back, do have a few posts to give me a reason to follow back. :)

Nice wee comedy/live music venue with very friendly staff and friendly atmosphere. For myself a highlight of the beers selection was superb Czech lagers Budweiser Budvar and Staropramen on draught as well as other excellent beers and cider etc (not that I was looking after spotting the Budvar). Very reasonable prices. I liked my visit and plan on making this a regular haunt.
