Upscale Indian restaurant, spectacular service, quality of food and ambience. Perfect if you are entertaining visitors/guests or looking for a romantic dinner with that special someone. The speed of service is absolutely mind-blowing for a indian restaurant. We had our hot apps within 15 mins of ordering, on a packed Boxing day Saturday and our mains within 10 mins. Quality of food is something that needs to be experienced to understand... I am Indian and have been eating indian food for 30 years, across 4 continents and this place definitely stands out at the very top!

My sister T tried getting a reservation here for 2 weeks to no avail--lucky for us, when we walked in on Friday evening, there was a table for 2 in their lounge area. :) We were still planning to head to U Street for more food later, and had come from a different afternoon snack place (yes, we're fatties)..so we didn't want to order too much. Got the famous "must-try" palak chaat (hilariously not "real" chaat, per my Indian boyfriend), and side-sized versions of the bhindi and the cholle...and naan. Palak Chaat--honestly I think it's weird that a made-up snack is their most popular dish when they're the most hyped Indian restaurant in DC, but I'll give it to them that it's an interesting dish. I couldn't actually taste the spinach and have no idea how they made it--it's crispy//almost dehydrated spinach-colored leaves..some coated in a reddish tempura-like batter. Interesting and flavorful. The bhindi and the cholle were both very tasty--not too spicy, nor too oily (I say this for the bhindi, which tends to get oily at restaurants) but true to more home-style Indian cooking. Good by me--if I'm back in DC I'll be back to try the entrees. :)

Ambiance is first class ! Food tasted very good, except one dish. We ordered spicy and they literally just sprinkled chilli powder on top and served the dish ! Did not expect that from a restaurant like Rasika. Have been here before and always liked the food, but we were disappointed this time.

Rasika West End fully deserves its mentions in the Top 100 restaurants of Washington, DC. A gorgeous restaurant, attentive wait staff and a bold menu that highlights both traditional classics and new-age twists all combine to make this the best Indian restaurant I have ever dined at. Rasika deserves to be mentioned in any list of great Washington restaurants and well worth a visit.

After having read all the 5-star ratings I was really excited and stopped by on a Thursday evening. I was visiting DC and looking forward to something original. Upon arrival 10-minutes before 5PM the hostess indicated they would not be seating till 5PM and escorted us to the bar. This was fine as I was with a friend and decided to check out their bar menu. The service at the bar was great along with few interesting and unique cocktails. At 5PM the hostess escorted us to a near by table located within the bar area (front of the restaurant) We were quickly given menus and greeted by our server. We were still enjoying our drinks and looking over the menu. One thing which we could just not overlook was the seating arrangement and the tiny table. This could not be right, the table they sat us on could not even fit two proper plates let allow dishes and servings. We ordered up some food and asked the server to get us seated in a proper dinning area which was initially requested upon arrival to Rasika. Few minutes later the server returns with our food fully crowding the tiny table with more to come! I requested we move immediately as this would just not work. Apparently 'management' stepped in and stated that they were booked and no seats were available in the dinning hall. Well WTF I thought as the table we were seated at could not have been larger than a toilet seat cover. Seemed very deceitful way to do business. We decided to finish up our appetizers before leaving this place since having a proper dinner was out of the question. Nor did we want to indulge in a place with such poor management qualities. The food was subpar to say the least. Although the menu looks great, flavors were a BIG miss. Nothing original as I had initial anticipated. Only item which tasted interesting were the popcorns given to us at the bar. I would not recommend this resturant which A) Nothing original here in terms of food and its flavours + presentation B)Poor, poor, poor management

Spectacular modern Indian food. We arrived at 9:45pm on a Friday, so missed the chance to try the chef's tasting menu (probably just as well - it seemed somewhat slanted towards fish dishes), but made up our own instead. Absolutely wonderful superb tastes; lbeautifully presented. Food price was entirely fine for what we got, but the drinks seemed a little on the high side. Helpful, attentive service.

Expensive even for the area but you will not find a finer dining experience. Good service, stellar food!
