CAMPANHA NA AVAAZ -  01/Jun/2016

Read, meditate, before criticizing and thinking you are much more smarter (yes, pleonasm) than a believer: ALL THE SH!T THAT IS DONE IN THIS EARTH IS BY US, NOT GOD!

Matthew 7:21-23
True and False Disciples
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Hello, friends from #Slackware! Don't give up on GNU/Linux FLOSS philosophy. We are counting on your seniority to lead the way... since other old distros were devoured by the "dark (corporation) side" and even are best friends with m$, now!

TODAY is a special day. It’s #Penguin Awareness Day, but putting aside the #Linux and the #Tux mascot, there’s not much to celebrate because the Linux Foundation reveals signs of rot. The #FSF is to the Linux #Foundation what astronomy (science) is to astrology (big business around pseudo-science) and having already attempted to delete GNU from history* (a common phenomenon), the Linux Foundation now deletes the role that individuals played in the development of the system. We’re meant or at least led to thinking that the kernel, Linux, was quietly ‘taken over’ by a consortium of corporations, many of which have mixed loyalties (not just to Linux).
Words of warning about the direction taken by the Linux Foundation, where Microsoft impact has grown and community role has been diminished or completely decimated

I was trying to merge parts of a huge mkv file, spliced to allow copying into an external drive formated in fat32. When applying the cat x* command, I got this movies-like screen in the terminal :-P
You know movies: when some nerd or spy is working with a computer, there is always code running in some terminal ;-)

Fake promisses, broken heart and trust from yet another capitalist rich corporation.

So...this is a mini rant on something that I'll cover more in the coming weeks. It's more of a mini blog so if you don't mind help me spreading it around, I would appreciate it.

First, I will make it clear. I fully realize that a business is not in the business of giving their products and services away. Yeah...I get that. But I also get that when your company is ranked at 134 on the Fortune 500 list, you might have just a wee bit of money to spread around. You know...community involvement and all of that?

And for you that are about to mention the Connect a Million Minds program, save your breath. I'm gonna slash big gaping holes in that fiasco as well.

We were asked to join Time Warner's Connect a Million Minds program back in 2012. Reading up on it, it seemed like just the right effort for Reglue. Time Warner has the assets and public exposure to make working with them a promising endeavor.

No. It isn't a promising endeavor. It isn't close to a promising endeavor and the closest thing Time Warner's little BS program does to helping the community is talking YOUR small business or non profit into spending your own money to cover the costs associated with whatever Time Warner has cooked up for your non profit to do.

It's bullshit, front to back, side to side. The problem is that a lot of bigger companies and non profits have bought into this crap and the only thing they get is a nice pat on the head every now and then. And if that's all it takes for your non profit to feel good about what you are doing, well fine. Glad the two of you found a mutual partnership.

They screw you and you like it. Wow. How fulfilling.

But those of us who have to go as far as to  bloody our hands by tearing computers apart just in order to sell the scrap metal to make ends meet...well, we can't be a part of your little club. We can't afford it.

So when the Director of the Taylor Housing Authority approached us a few weeks ago and asked if we would make sure all the kids in public housing have a computer, well we jumped at the chance. That's exactly what we do and that's exactly where our efforts are needed the most.

Then one if the people who help manage the finances of the Taylor Housing Project asked us if we had any experience in getting Time Warner to donate internete services, I had to bite my tongue...no, really. I had to physically bite my tongue to keep the bubbling, acid vitriole from flowing forth. I told the nice young lady that we would talk privately about that matter.

Well, I got an email Friday from the head guy and he was excited to announce that Time Warner would be happy to help. They would provide wireless at  3Mbps down and 1 Mbps up for $15.00 a month plus the hook up fee for each household costing $125.00

I did my very best not to seek things not anchored down and begin hurling them against the walls and various windows. Hooo-leee shit.
Do these people have no shame? Really? Time Warner? You state that you will provide that silly little trickle of connectivity and do so as if you are doing us a big favor? How is any school student supposed to get anything done at that rate?

I'm now looking into reviving our Prometheus Project but at this time, we just don't have that kind of money. We'll discuss it at our board meeting this comeing week and see what we can do.
