Did you know....

The deep-fried twinkie was invented in Brooklyn? The Chip Shop in Park Slope invented the golden delicious treat in the early 2000s and still makes them today.

New York City Subways are known for being a little eccentric, but watch these guys throw a DJ Dance Party on this subway car. It's sure to make your day a little brighter!

Ever thought about going back to preschool?

It was great right, you got to take naps, do crafts, and learn a lot. NOw Michelle Joni Lapidos is bringing preschool to Brooklyn. Recapture your inner child while you finger paint!

Uh oh! Keep your "love locks" to yourself!
New York City's Department of Transportation cut 450 locks from the bridge on Monday. Love's labour's lost.

Is sushi your thing?

There are so many options for great Sushi in NYC, but check out these under the radar spots for unique and delectable sushi.
All of which you won't find on ANY of the recent “best of" lists from NY Mag, Time Out, Eater, Gothamist, or Village Voice.

New York cuisine is known for being expensive, but there are plenty of places you can get a yumtastic meal for cheap. With plenty of spots in Brooklyn, you won't have to go far for an inexpensive meal.
All of which can easily hook you up with a top-notch meal for under $10 (okay, one is $10.50).

We walked in, asked for and to see a room, were impressed, signed up for it at the best price I'd seen on the internet less another 15% AARP discount, used the free parking and continental breakfast, and very much enjoyed the room. Interestingly different and useful room layout, very handsome modern furniture and facilities, blue theme throughout, quiet. Very helpful and courteous staff. Close (1 block) from great Brooklyn restaurants and our family. Much better than crowding in with them. What could be better?

Reading the other reviews, they make this place out to be horrible! If there was ever a bedbug problem, it's cleaned up now. The furniture, bathroom, and bedding were all lush. Gotta say it was nice to have a shower where the nozzle didn't spray stinging needles of water- yay waterfall nozzles! It's only a short walk to Prospect Park and there are some good bottomless brunch places in the area!

Terrible experience at this hotel. They changed the rate without notice adding an additional $300 and downgrading the room. Their wonderful solution for their mistake, was that we switch rooms every single day during our six (6) day stay. Then on top of that, the person at the front desk was rude and trying to blame us for their mistake. What a shame to receive such a poor service. We ended up at the Sheraton which was much nicer and the people were much nicer.

The staff was the highlight. We loved the hotel and the room. Very comfortable beds and big shower. Quiet, too - we couldn't hear anyone in other rooms above, below or adjacent. Thanks to Henry, Tarek, Amanda and Jsian for making our trip great!

Great experience! We were saved by Tanya! She discovered that a third party web site botched our reservation and found a room for us. The room was clean and spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the balcony allowed us to enjoy the incredible weather. The location proved to be very accessible with access to three different subway stations within 5 blocks of the place. Marvin was full of suggestions for local fair. I gave four stars instead of five because in my opinion this is more of a couples retreat and less conducive to family travel. The pictures of the bathroom facilities are accurate. It is difficult to shower and dress with privacy.

The staff are wonderful. They are friendly, helpful, enthusiastic. They made our stay at the hotel completely pleasant -- holding a parking place for us, bringing up ice, providing breakfast, printing out directions when we left. Our room was large, comfortable, and inviting. We will definitely stay here again.

Great views of the Gowanus and city with a peek at the UHaul lot below. Get over that last bit because this is a great place to grab delicious cocktails or grab a great steak at a reasonable price without getting all dolled up and heading into Manhattan. If you hit the rooftop bar, get the buffalo wings and use the stairs to access the bathroom on the restaurant level.
