Unpretentious, pleasant setting. Very thoughtful, attentive staff (owner?) more like hostess/advisor than waiter. Great ingredients, fresh, natural, inventive combinations, with attention to the season. Enjoyed the ocean trout (they smoke it) and the cous cous appetizer.

One of the best meals I've ever had! I had their Thursday 3 course meal special and it was amazing! Food was beautifully presented and very tasty! The restaurant is a bit small but has a nice atmosphere. The stuff was very friendly and one of our courses was brought to us by the head chef/owner! Overall great experience!

This place has been a go-to spot for me since discovering their breakfast croissant sandwich! Bourbon vanilla mocha is also incredible. Owned by a young couple, these guys make simply amazing food and serve it in a highly personal, relaxed atmosphere. A welcome addition to the brunch options in the neighborhood...seems like this place hasn't caught on enough yet for there to be a big wait for a table, which is all the more reason to go! It was a little closet when the opened a few years ago, now it's doubled in size and they're planning to build a parklet out front, so the days of walk-in seating here may be numbered.

Very nice little cafe. Maybe a touch expensive but the atmosphere and interior makes up for it.

Been here a couple times. A couple before it became fancier: I liked the whole casual, order at counter, bring number to table atmosphere. It was good food. Consistency they needed to work on. The menu was small, I had the curry both times, liked it. But the curry was inconsistent. I liked it the 1st time and was eh the 2nd time. Fancier time: Hostess could only give us bar seating, which we were fine with. Everyone was friendly and we had our order taken in a timely manner. Nice staff. They were super busy. I had the liege waffles, I expected a bit more, like the liege waffle cart. This didn't remind me of a liege waffle at all. Fruits were good and so was the bacon. But the main part of the dish had disappointed me. Their drinks are awesome though. Heard it's getting more popular, so I probably won't be back soon, dislike crowd. And on a side note, I was going through craigslist and this place was hiring. Weirdly enough, they didn't want anyone with 2 or more years of experience, which I was a bit ticked at because I wanted to apply. But this keeps their staff young and more than likely high school or college folks.

We only hire people with no experiences from restaurants to avoid bad habits picked up from other restaurants. Our staff actually range from 18 to 35 in age. With our way of hiring, we have created an amazing team with very strong working ethics and morale, more than 2/3 of them have been working with us more than 2 years. We are still doing the counter service during weekday breakfast and lunch.

Cassava is an excellent little local spot in the Richmond with a great fusion-style menu. Went here for brunch and was very impressed. All the dishes that came out were interesting, unique and delicious. I had the waffle with fruit and cream on top, scrambled eggs and a side salad. The trout quinoa was fantastic and the meatballs and egg was very good. This place fills up quick so make a reservation or come early when they open. Reasonably priced and very casual atmosphere.

Cute little cafe. Came here for brunch and had the liege waffle plate which was good. Portion size is on the small side. Good fast service.

Simply Fantastic. Get out of the crowded Mission food scene and see Balboa Street and eat at Cassava.
