Why not again? (Think this is the 4th time I have, this post.)

2017 can use more silliness.

A very condensed series of highlights (read the whole thing):

To ensure a steady supply of paper clips, it would need a steady supply of money, and that meant increasing corporate revenue. Analyzing news reports, it quickly settled on high-frequency trading, money laundering, and heroin trafficking as the most profitable ways for it to do so [I just love that bit]

...

But this parable is not just about computer science. Replace the paper clips in the story above with money, and you will see the rise of finance. If gold was at first a mostly useless and decorative material, the fact that it was desirable turned it into a trade good, and the fact that it was durable (unlike, say, grain) made it possible to accumulate in arbitrary quantities

...

So while the story above may seem like the plot of a terrible movie, it is also the plot of our own world: Capitalism is a Paperclip Maximizer
A slight twist on an old tale: the Parable of the Paperclip Maximizer, and what it teaches us about our world today.

Spoiler (Series 10 finale synopsis)

We can stop guessing where Simm's Master and the Cybermen show up. Last or last 2 episodes......

Empress of Mars

So, first thing. As the episode got going, I started to wonder where this fits in Ice Warrior history. Which, in-canon, I'm fuzzy on, but thought it couldn't make sense. Until the end. Hearing Alpha Centauri's voice may be one of my favorite call backs to Classic Who. And, it totally makes sense this was the start of the Ice Warriors as we saw them in the Peladon stories.

I'm not sure what to make of the TARDIS, Missy framing bit. What made the TARDIS do that? Was that Simms' Master acting literally from the shadows? Is she playing at "being good" and he's helping her?

The Lie of the Land

So, the regeneration probably doesn't happen till Christmas. (I figured the scene in the trailer would end up being not real somehow). The episode had a very The Sound of Drums feel to it. Especially Missy and the Doctor talking about mind control. I half expected the Doctor to bring that up. I also thought there would be a twist and Simm's Master would be working with the Monks. (or controlling them).

Not really a fan of Missy being less crazy evil.

Excited next week for a proper Ice Warrior story.

I sooo wanted this to be the intro to the Cybermen story watching it. The parallels between the suits' behavior and them screamed it. Maybe it still is.

Still sure it is Saxon Master in the vault. No firm reason, except I'm not sure how Missy with the way the season is playing out and I think it is a prelude to 12's first.

Knock, Knock

*Spoilers*

Sorry, I did watch this way late, but also a busy weekend and a day. I, again, worried it would be "Ghost Light" (Lungbarrow Lite). Not at all, except the House......

The Vault. It is so obviously Simm's Master now. Maybe. But back to the idea of a larger arc. The first thing I thought with the bugs were cybermats. (I am listening to BF Cybermen stories lately). They don't at all act like them though.
