As many of you might remember I told you that I was able to locate Mr. Percy's* wing man, John. Well we managed to get John to Columbia, MO this past weekend! Yep these two World War II Marine Pilots had a chance of a lifetime to see each other again after nearly 70 years! This was an amazing past couple of days not only for these two wonderful men but for Mr. Percy's* family and I to be a part of.
I absolutely love this photo and will have more photos to share from this weekend (thanks to Lollipop Photography) next week! I can't help but sit here at my office thinking about this weekend and smile because I know this time together was priceless.

As John arrived on Sunday afternoon I picked him up and drove him to Mr. Percy's* house. As he made his way to the front door Mr. Percy* was so excited to see him, after all John saved his life in World War II. They exchanged hugs and handshakes before sitting down and immediately began reminiscing from many years ago. We had to stop their conversation short as it's always better with food! We loaded up in the car and went to lunch. When we got back to Mr. Percy's* house they began chatting up a storm. It was so fun listening to these guys talk planes, various areas they flew over and John getting in trouble for not following the rules! They would both catch a cat nap then begin where they left off... truly a day they would both remember!

I picked John up from the hotel Monday morning and he really wanted to spend a little more time with Mr. Percy* so we drove back over to visit a little more. Sadly the time had come that I needed to take John to the shuttle to get him back to St. Louis, MO so he could fly back to California. As we headed to the car, Mr. Percy yells from the front porch "Semper Fi my brother!" John responded with a "Semper Fi". Both gave a salute as their goodbyes. This might be the last time they see each other but it certainly wouldn't be the last time they would hear each others voice as they are just a phone call away!
I know this was certainly a trip to remember for both of these men. I am so proud that I had the chance to reunite these two young men and you knew from the smiles on their faces that this weekend meant the world to them! "Just two ol' Marine buddies" as they called themselves!

The story doesn't stop here.... stay tuned until next week!

I am excited to announce that I will have a 2nd children's book coming soon! I have officially signed the contract (self-published) and submitted the rough draft late yesterday afternoon! While I won't tell you much about this book right now (I like surprises) I will tell you more in the coming weeks! I am excited to say this book is a second book about paying it forward and is similar to Tom T's Hat Rack but of course a different story line and different characters!

It's super exciting and super scary at the same time but I can't wait to see the final book in my hands!

So I just learned of a really awesome little boy that is currently going through chemo and approved for a bone marrow transplant. While he is dealing with his own health issues he wants to help others and through the help of his family and friends they have started "Super Sam's 100 Days of Comfort"... What a wonderful thing and something I want to help out with! (If anyone else wants to help with this simple yet kind gesture please let me know!) I would love to send a big ol' box full of these items to show support not only to Sam but other kids going through treatments and helping them find comfort while spending time in a hospital. Sam, you just keep working on your superhero powers and I'll be working on helping you reach your goal!

To find out more about Sam's story you can visit his Caring Bridge site: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/samsanthuff/mystory and/or visit his Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1428928020654793/

Back on April 19, 2014 I had the opportunity to be a part of Author's Day at Daniel Boone Regional Library in Columbia, MO with some other wonderful local authors! Thanks DBRL for inviting me!

I had the honor of reading/talking about Tom T's Hat Rack at New Franklin Elementary School on Thursday February 20, 2014.. One of the coolest things was being asked to sign this teachers "Author's Chair" before I left! I loved seeing all of these awesome little author signatures on this chair! Super cool idea!

I loved this Super Bowl commercial from Chevrolet called "Life". I had no clue that tomorrow is World Cancer Day.... may one day they find a cure to this horrible thing that has affected so many wonderful people in our lives. I will positively impact someone who is currently battling cancer to see that they aren't alone while they are on the road to recovery. What will you do tomorrow for World Cancer Day? Send someone a hand written note, make a phone call to a loved one telling them what they mean to you or simply teach your child(ren) about paying it forward... no matter what you do just make a positive impact in the lives of others. You never know... it may have a lasting impression on your life! #WorldCancerDay

With our super freezing temps (-10 in Columbia, MO) and our schools being closed today because of these extreme cold it seems like the perfect day to curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book! What do ya think? :)

It hard to believe that 1 year ago today I was anxiously waiting for the arrival of a very special package.... one that would allow a dream to come true! I have the original "proof book" in this packaging sitting near my desk as a reminder to never give up on your dreams. No matter how far out there your dreams may be you can reach them with the right attitude and the right people cheering you on! Thank you to everyone that believed in me and encouraged me along the way!

As we get ready to close out 2013 we are getting ready to create a new chapter in 2014. It's your story and you have the ability to write it how you want. What are you going to challenge your self with in the coming year? What do you love about yourself that you wouldn't change? I am still working on what my goals will be in 2014 and never pressure myself to have them "figured out" by January 1st but I can promise you this.... I will love unconditionally, give unselfishly and always help others when I can. I don't focus on the past as we can't change it (and I wouldn't want to as it's what has made me who I am today) but rather focus on the future enjoying each day at a time. I will have a smile on my face (well you didn't think these wrinkles that are appearing are from anything but smiling did you?) and hopefully help change this world one community at a time.

I was in Hobby Lobby the other day picking up a few last minute things (don't we all seem to come up with the perfect ideas just days before the holidays) and I just happened to go down an isle and saw this beauty looking back at me. I knew I had to have this gentle reminder and I hung it in the ladies bathroom at our shop. Makes me smile whenever I see it and reminding me why I chose to pay it forward! Enjoy your day!
