Join other wine adventurers on a small-group, day long tour tour through the Napa Valley, Sonoma or North Sonoma County wine country. This is a fun, social tour for folks who'd like to experience this wonderful area and learn a bit about the wine-making process, while tasting our world-class wines. Our focus is on smaller back-roads wineries and historic properties. A very tasty picnic lunch, served at a winery, is included. Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, or Russian River / Healdsburg-area Join-In Tours are priced at $110 per person.

The entire day was well organized, carefully planned and a fun journey up and down the Napa Valley. Our tour guide was spectacular and he took special care to make certain we were back at our hotel in time to prepare for a dinner reservation. We highly recommend allowing them to show you the valley in their comfortable bus complete with water, snacks and lunch! Thanks, Platypus!

We planned a girls trip to Napa Valley and wanted to be responsible drinkers so we booked a tour with Platypus in Feb 2016, and our guide was Mike. He was fantastic! He wore multiple hats, he was the driver, the chef, the pastry chef, wine packer, & water hydrated. Mike was funny and very knowledgeable about the area and the wines. At our last wine stop, the owner of the winery was not feeling well and instead of cancelling, Mike stepped up to the plate and helped the owner present his wines. Loved the tours, it has a nice variety of wineries. Best one was Flora Springs with the cave wine barrel storage and it had spectacular views of vineyards.

This tour is a great way to explore Napa! This tour went above and beyond my expectations. I thought that this was just going to pretty much be transportation for the day. Toni did way more than that. She provided us with history tidbits while driving from spot to spot. We even made a stop to see a cork tree. She had a lot of knowledge of the wineries to pass on to us. She also came in to every spot and assisted at anytime we needed her to. We didn't even have to carry our wine over to the bus. We were also able to see wineries that I never would have thought to visit and I am glad we did! Toni is a fantastic tour guide and you can see the passion she has for what she does. I highly recommend this tour! The lunch and cheese and crackers that were provided were also great and being able to eat the lunch in a cave topped off the experience. Also there was an endless supply of water which was great.

Never go to Napa or Sonoma without at least taking a Platypus tour one of your days there. Don and Cathy the owners do a fantastic job. Last week was our 3rd visit to Napa in the past 3 years and our 3rd platypus tour. They even keep records of wineries you visited on your previous platypus tours so that they do their best to not visit those again if you don't want to visit them again. It's a bus that picks you up at your hotel or B/B around 10-10:15 in the morning and returns you anywhere from 5-7pm. Normally it's 5pm, but this last time we were running late and spent a lot of time at our last stop so we got back at 7pm. The driver Rob , who was fantastic, even asked us if we wanted to stop at the Welcome to Napa sign and take pictures. We all said yes of course. We'd say anything after visiting 4 wineries. He even took group pictures for the website. You get to visit 4 wineries, mainly the smaller ones, and then have a picnic lunch at one of them. There are usually around 12 people and you are all great friends by the end of the day. It's the easiest and most economical way to visit 4 wineries in a day and not worry about how much you drink because you don't have to drive. I highly recommend Platypus.

Steve did a great job to keep the tour interesting despite the constant rain. Everyone seemed to have a good time. We visited several smaller vineyards and tried some of the best wine in Napa. It was also very educational for those who are new to fine wine. The tour was great, and for the value, a no-brainer.

We had a blast on our platypus tour!! Greta was a great guide and took us to some fabulous wineries. We have already recommended the tour to several friends and would definitely do this tour again if we are back in the area. Thanks Platypus for a fun day in Napa!

This day was awesome. Chris certainly is the one to thank for that. He is a great tour guide and chose wonderful wineries to visit. Can't thank you enough Platypus Wine Tours. My son is the Director of Large events at Napa Valley Marriott and he suggested you and booked the occassion for my husband and I. I have shared our experience with him and he said this is the reason he refers so many groups to you. He has had no complaints and that's what it's all about. We had a great time. Pat Bobbs

Very interesting article in the NY Times about the emergence of a different POV on how quality wines should be judged. American wine tastes are driven by the "the Wine Advocate" and founder Robert M. Parker Jr. Big, bold and with a high alcohol content. But is there more to to tasting wine than having your buds bulldozered? many winemakers feel that,,,http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/31/magazine/the-wrath-of-grapes.html
A band of upstart winemakers is trying to redefine what California wine should taste like — and enraging America’s most famous oenophile in the process.
