Way overhyped. Unless you like bland food. Nothing we ate was enjoyable. 3 appetizers, 2 entrees (would have been 3 but they were out of shrimp), and 2 desserts (one being cotton candy). After the boring appetizers the server did his best to steer us in the direction of entrees we would like, but it wasn't much help. Someone recommended Slanted Door because of great reviews (which may have gotten our hopes up too high), but we were very disappointed. Also, it was very loud in the restaurant. It wasn't terribly crowded, just something about the acoustics in the building. So if you like raising your voice over almost tasteless food, you'll love the Slanted Door.

Super delicious food served in an fantastic setting right on the water. Sitting indoors or outdoors doesn't matter, you'll still have a view outside, and the interior decor is very nice. There is a large bar to sit at for food and drinks, which is a great place to meet friends. The food is an excellent variety of flavours. The Slanted Door Spring Rolls are a MUST - that peanut sauce is so good! On my visit there two things dropped my experience to 3 stars instead of 5. 1st, I discovered a large (about 2 inches long) unidentified piece of something in my meal. When I showed it to the bartender and server, they seemed more confused than anything, and weren't sure what to do, other than to look at it and then walk away. After a few minutes, the server came back and offered to have the kitchen make another (I said yes). The response style wasn't as professional as it could have been. 2nd, one of the bartenders got verbally aggressive with some women who came in and ordered drinks/food. It was not professional, and I was surprised that the guests kept their cool and continued their order. Hopefully the next time I visit if anyone in my party finds something in their food, the staff will respond faster, and that bartender is having a better day!

Trying to recollect from memory, they have a great happy hour. The service and seating was good too. Incredibly busy during the evening hour. The full service is pricey and needs a reservation.

Delicious! Also on the water and you can see the Bay Bridge. Prices were great too which was shocking since they are in SF.

Went here as a group for a work event, loved the family style food service. There was something for everyone. The floral tea was such a fun experience and really tasty. The cotton candy was a fun way to end the night. The cocktails were really good too.

This place was highly recommended by my coworkers but my overall experience was a little bit below my expectations. Even though it was 9pm in a Monday the place was really crowded and noisy. It's almost unbearable the volume of so many people talking at the same time. For me the best part was having the slanted door spring rolls. The peanut sauce that comes with it is absolutely delicious and goes perfectly with the rolls. I felt that the caramelized wild gulf shrimp was missing some spiciness. It could have more pepper to add a punch to the sweetness of the dish. And finally I think it is really overpriced, the food does not give the feeling of being hard to make.

Good food, service was ok. No wait without reservation if you get there as soon as they open. The waiter/busser kept hovering if we're done with our plate. I take a bite but there are still some food on the plate and he asks me if he can take away the plate, so rude!

Wow, how do people love this place so much? I've been for dinner, corporate events...and I've only had an okay experience here. They're known for their exquisite Vietnamese cuisine...I've had better on Clement St. Their signature drinks are legend...my grandma can make better. Go to Le Colonial, you'll have a better time and a band and a place to dance.
