Welcome to the delicious world of MANHATTANJACKsweet treats. A company built on the belief that hand crafted artisan chocolates and confections should be made with pure simple ingredients, nothing artificial. Lets face it as the creator and executive chocolatier I have quite the " Willy Wonka " mind. When I was 4 years old I walked a few miles to a store I recognized with a Hershey sign out front just for a candy bar. The whole world was looking for me, but nothing mattered to me but that insanely creamy chocolate. The passion for chocolate and candy grew with each year, traveling all over this country, it was my priority to find the handmade confection store in every city and small town. After becoming a graduate of the (fancy pants) Culinary Institute of America...which I am extremely proud of. I now had the education to compete in the field of making my own confections and chocolates in the quality I felt was slipping from all others. My partner Coleman Jernigan and I make confections that are all handmade and hand dipped in the old country style of Italian Chocolatiers, using local fresh ingredients and hand cut (unevenly mind you, sometimes) every piece.

*Almost* perfect. I just discovered this place today, had good coffee, then a very tasty lunch. Employees were quite friendly. Bright cheerful atmosphere. I keep looking for a coffee shop that I can walk to and really spend time in, and this could be it EXCEPT... ...they appear to have only one big speaker, and they set it at the front of the store, playing VERY LOUD. When I first came in, I was surprised to see that the big comfy chairs up front were unoccupied. Sat in one for about 15 minutes and realized why -- music blasting in my face so loud I could not hear myself think! Moved to an open spot near the middle of the shop and was better. When I ordered lunch, then I could move to one of the "reserved for eating people" tables, as far away from the speaker as possible. THEN the music was a reasonable level. I note that the register is back there -- I guess the employees are making the music the volume they like for themselves, and maybe they don't realize that when they do that, and the speaker is at the complete opposite end of the shop, anyone near that speaker is just being blasted out. If that weren't going on, I probably would've stayed the rest of the afternoon, gotten more coffee, had some pastries... but I had to leave after lunch; since relinquishing my diners-only table would've meant moving back toward the speaker. So I guess I continue to search for a good hang-out coffee shop... it makes me sad; this place is otherwise so great. Maybe I'll try ear plugs...sigh...

Hi Elizabeth, my name is Jack and my business partner's name is Coleman. Thank you for our four star review. I was out running errands today and am sorry I missed you. I'm sure I would have found the music too loud if I were there. I have the greatest staff at Mjack and am proud of all of them. Sometimes they raise the volume to meet the crowd volume, then when we're a little calmer the music volume is still up. For whatever reason it is not the norm and my staff will be happy to be more acute on the music being background only. Please come join us again. we have a great client all of professionals and the vibe is good. I'm sure we can all win you over. We are a neighborhood coffee house and we are proud of how our neighborhood has grown. Best, Jack Petronella co owner

Good service. Love the Pretzel Bagel sandwich and all the pastries look wonderful. If you're there on non-peak hours it's a great place to get some work done and sip good coffee. Wi-Fi is restricted on peak hours.

I've become quite the coffee snob since college. Just happened upon this place while visiting New Orleans. And I'm glad I did. This place made one of the best coffees I've had. Definitely will stop by this place again next time I'm in the area.
