Welcome to the delicious world of MANHATTANJACKsweet treats. A company built on the belief that hand crafted artisan chocolates and confections should be made with pure simple ingredients, nothing artificial. Lets face it as the creator and executive chocolatier I have quite the " Willy Wonka " mind. When I was 4 years old I walked a few miles to a store I recognized with a Hershey sign out front just for a candy bar. The whole world was looking for me, but nothing mattered to me but that insanely creamy chocolate. The passion for chocolate and candy grew with each year, traveling all over this country, it was my priority to find the handmade confection store in every city and small town. After becoming a graduate of the (fancy pants) Culinary Institute of America...which I am extremely proud of. I now had the education to compete in the field of making my own confections and chocolates in the quality I felt was slipping from all others. My partner Coleman Jernigan and I make confections that are all handmade and hand dipped in the old country style of Italian Chocolatiers, using local fresh ingredients and hand cut (unevenly mind you, sometimes) every piece.

in the last week
I really wish they would get a better ventilation system and another coffee machine. I just waited 15 minutes for one shot of espresso and now i smell like a fry kitchen. So gross.

This is my absolute love in Uptown New Orleans. Smooth and strong espresso in your cappuccino with one of their signature sweets such as a raspberry apricot pistachio bar or a ginger and peach cream molasses cookie is one of the best little treats that you could give yourself throughout the week while in New Orleans. Manhattan Jack rotates out local art work while its selection rotates a decent amount throughout the week. The breakfast offerings are limited and often are weekend-only delights, but I promise that this friendly atmosphere is the most obliging to your needs - caffeine or caffeine-less. I recommend trying their chocolates, too! Stop by for a perfectly modern coffee shop atmosphere and a quick little chat with some locals or the owners themselves.

I ordered a bagel breakfast sandwich and it came on a bagel practically the size of a bagel bite! The bagels keep on shrinking and the price stays the same with nothing on the menu to suggest I'm getting a mini bagel!

I had a chai tea latte and a western omelet cheese croissant. Everything in this place looks like it is begging you to eat it. A bit of a wait on the weekends. Great food, great brewing.

Walked in at 7:15 this morning to order a bagel with lox. They refused to serve it to me because they "don't sell breakfast until 7:30" - I was in a rush to get somewhere so I just walked out. Why are you open if you don't sell breakfast in the morning?!? I'll give them one star for good food and one star for great coffee. But be prepared to wait AT LEAST 10-15 min for a latte on the weekend or be prepared to not get served breakfast or lunch if you don't show up in the specific time slot in the day that is allotted to serving those meals. The servers are really nice, patient people. But I have had some frustrating experiences not being served breakfast because I showed up too early or too late. I don't understand what time breakfast begins and ends and why it doesn't overlap with lunch.

Needs more vegetarian friendly options. Also breakfast should be served later than 11 on Sundays.
Response from the owner - a year ago
All kidding aside! we are working on a few new menu items for lunch and will have a great veggie sandwich very very soon. Breakfast will not be served past 11am on Sundays because of the high demand for lunch on that day also and the kitchen is too small for both (: we wish we could do breakfast all day on the weekends, but all in good time I promise you this. Thanks for being our customer it is appreciated.
