When my now twelve year old daughter was a month old she broke out in hives and had difficulty breathing after I nursed her. That was when our food allergy adventure began. Severe allergic reactions from breastfeeding aren’t common. Typically, when an infant shows signs of a food allergy it’s when solids are introduced. Food…

I just love this Halloween pic from a few years back - Can you guess the theme!? When my now twelve year old daughter was one month old she had her first severe allergic reaction after breastfeeding. The first year was all about figuring out all of her allergies and modifying my life to keep…

Pregnancy complications and bed rest aren't easy to deal with - especially with something as rare as vasa previa.

Yeah... she is pretty stinkin cute in her baby rapunzel costume, huh?! The week of Halloween I decided to make a Rapunzel costume. Because, making a freaking costume last minute makes a ton of sense with an infant in tow. Anyway, I usually make our costumes or at least part of them but, the kids…

Hilarious! I don't know anyone who hasn't had this happen when they've tried to wax their own wookiee! I'm convinced that the home waxing kits are a cruel joke on us all ;)

Why is this even being discussed??
The big debate on food allergy accommodations and classroom parties will always be there. And I will always have something to say.

We found ourselves in a stressful and unexpected situation when our car was wrecked in an accident. Car buying isn't anyone's favorite experience - typically because we all feel like we are being scammed so that someone can make commission and the price of the vehicle is like a dropkick to the financial gut. After I researched reviews and found a couple used vehicles we were interested we called over to Norm Reeves Honda in HB. From the start, our phone conversations were pleasant and helpful. They said they would call us back once they confirmed they physically had the cars on the lot - I honestly thought "Yeah, sure that's what they all say just to get you to come in!" - That wasn't the case here. We worked with John Lien to check out the selection of used cars. I noticed right away that the prices on their inventory were far below suggested value - What's the catch right? We wanted to find a used Prius and we all know the market is flooded with options for these. They had two in fantastic condition, detailed service reports and I couldn't wrap my head around the sticker price being so low. John was really patient, helpful and great to work with. He dealt with my barrage of questions with ease and was truly happy to help. There wasn't a single vibe of anyone there being a typical "Pushy car salesman" type that we are all used to. We found out that this location has a very different culture - they are salary there. There isn't a cutthroat crazy culture to make a commission so their prices can be amazing and the atmosphere was laid back. We didn't have the psycho cycle of car salesman trying to loop us in until they got a sale. No pressure at all... just helpful and happy employees. We found the car for us but there happened to be a lot of people so our wait to get financing situated was long. My husband and I were fine with it because we joked with John, watched some youtube videos, he even offered us snacks out of his desk when I joked I was going to get "hangry" and we shared funny life stories. Anthony Dang, their finance guru, was an added bonus of awesomeness. We were laughing and joking through the finance process. He was very helpful and professional... he knows his stuff! I've never had a car buying experience like this at all. When we find ourselves ready to buy another vehicle they will have our customer loyalty.
