Lifestyle Medicine: Friend or Foe of Hotel Development?

In a new article published in the Hotel Business Review, RLA's Director of Industry Intelligence, László Puczkó discusses how Lifestyle medicine can become a good friend for hoteliers but can also be a foe if not considered, planned and executed properly. The hotel performance, brand and operation can be improved by the application of small steps and adapting lifestyle medicine as a driving principle but not as a service component.
The article is available at Hotel Business Review, the premier online weekly resource for hotel industry professionals.

RLA’s Director of Industry Intelligence László Puczkó led a special workshop with the Executive MBA students of Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne recently. EHL is one of the most acclaimed hospitality schools and Executive MBA students are representing the future hospitality leaders.

It was a great opportunity to discuss the wide variety of options hoteliers have to incorporate #WellbeingHospitality within hotel assets. During the workshop students were introduced to planning, management and operational opportunities and could discuss how general wellbeing trends can and should be translated to #hotel properties and operations. One of the key lessons learned was that hospitality assets have more options to improve their financial and guest performance beyond just dedicated wellness spaces.

Pioneering the concept of wellbeing hospitality

Today’s hotel guests are looking for much more than a hotel room and comfortable accommodations. They are seeking a wellbeing experience and healthy options that go beyond a spa or fitness center. They simply want more.

“Wellbeing Hospitality”, a phrase coined by RLA, is being recognized among developers worldwide as the future of the hospitality industry. The ultimate goal is the success of the hotel by understanding the needs of today’s travelers and hotel guests. It capitalizes on the wants of such guests by creating hospitality and destination assets via forms of wellness, leisure, recreation, travel, and healthcare.

Creating an environment embracing the wellbeing hospitality concept goes beyond the satisfaction of the guests. It also has an uncontested financial benefit to owners and operators by increasing the TRevPAR (Total revenue per available room).

Roger Allen, CEO of RLA (Resources for Leisure Assets), is featured this quarter in the LUXURY HOTELIERS magazine. He answered a Q&A about the meaning, benefit, and future of the Wellbeing Hospitality. Read Roger’s latest interview at this link:
