Nothing but love for those who serve our country, which is why I'm proud as can be about being part of Operation Supply Drop's Ambassador Program and why I'm joing in with 8-Bit Salute to raise money for their wonderful cause.

I am just $1,087 away from my initial goal.  Help me help our brave military by chipping in and/or sharing this link with others.

Thank you.

Bumped from yesterday since my letter to Cowherd went and broke the Twitter.

Here's my weekly G4@SyfyGames look at video game history.

A little different this week... instead of recalling dates relevant to the next few days I dive into the earliest days of Konami, even pre-dating their NES days and measure the impact those early games have still today.

Seemed appropriate given Konami's recent headlines.

I'm doing yet another series at G4@Syfygames? Why, yes.  Keeping this going.

Retro Reviews will take a look at older video game titles that, in my opinion, never got the full love they deserved.  As more and more people (and companies) get into retro game collecting I feel it is important to put a spotlight on these hidden gems.

I don't judge these games by today's standards, though I will note things that modern gamers unfamiliar with them might want to know.  It helps that I actually played all this stuff when new, too... so I can judge them a bit more based on what they were when new rather than in hindsight.

My first was the second game I ever bought for the original PlayStation.  What's all the shakin' and thundaaaaah?

It's Power Move Pro Wrestling.

Know Your History.

It's important, and I don't feel enough in video gaming is doing it right if at all.

Thrilled and honored to announce that I've been promoted to the position of Senior Contributing Editor with G4@SyfyGames.

Those who've been around here for a long time know what at least part of that brand name means to me and, for that matter, video game media history.  I am excited to have even further opportunity to help it rise from the ashes like the mighty phoenix.

If you haven't checked it out yet, hit up http://www.syfygames.com/news and see what we've been up to.  It is only the start of an awesome ride.

As RETRO Magazine Issue #7 continues it's journey on to people's screens and mailboxes worldwide, I start getting antsy for Issue #8, the issue of which I will debut The Commissioner character to a new column.

I've been looking for some time now to put together a fun and possibly polarizing column and this foots the bill.  It will be tackling very real issues in the video game world (at least through my eyes) in the manner of a sort of self-parody that will prove to be a lot of fun.

In the column, I've essentially had enough with some things and declared myself the Commissioner of Video Gaming.  In an effort to fix these oversights I am handing down rules faster that Roger Goodell on a Red Bull bender.  When something comes across the desk of the Commissioner, he's gonna hand down some rules.

Subscribe now to get in on the action in time to catch the column and we'll have some fun.

Word that GameStop was testing a retro video game trade-in program in certain markets caused a big buzz this week.  My perspective on what might happen should this roll out nationwide seems to differ from many, so I took to G4@SyfyGames to explore it.

Check out my latest opinion piece.

Then read my post as :s/fun/magic then. It never seems to be a short list when I'm sifting through the massive mounds of stuff in the bargain bins. If I want really old stuff, I'll go to GamerzPlanet or Half.com. I recently went to the former and found a pile of 8-bit Atari and Commodore 64 cartridges scattered in their Atari 2600 shelf. I bought most of them for about $7, including an old sierra game called Wiztype.
