A few weeks ago my family and I, (a party of 7) went for an early dinner. There seemed to be a serious miscommunication between the waitresses and the hostess as to who was supposed to be our server because every waitress tried to wait on us, and the one who said she was our waitress only came over once. Almost all of our orders were wrong, and the others (except 1) didn't even come out until we asked, "Hey, where is our food?" Eventually the manager, Kenny, came over to hear our issues. We weren't rude of course, but we certainly exercised candor. We weren't expecting anything out of our complaint except for the messed up orders to be rectified, but the manager ended up taking care of our entire bill, which was over $150, and he served our table for the rest of our meal. The manager went above and beyond in each way he possibly could. So much so that my party felt like, "Uh-oh, that's a big bill- we should really be paying for at least the desserts." But the manager refused to allow us to pay a dime. He didn't have to do so much, but he understands the importance of leaving a good taste in the mouths (pun intended) of his customers. Bravo Kenny, and we are coming back with an even bigger party next time.

This Applebee's experience was perhaps the worst my husband and I have ever had at any restaurant. We went about 3 in the afternoon so it was slow, but we still had to stand and wait to be seated for several minutes before a hostess came. Our drinks came quick enough and we ordered cheese sticks as an appetizer, which were good, but it all went downhill from there... I ordered a salad without chicken (they have virtually no vegetarian options, but most places will cater to nutritional needs--heck, I got a better veggie salad at IHOP than here) and my husband ordered a steak. When the food arrived the hubby's steak portion was about half the size of the same steak at other Applebee's restaurants. He said the meat tasted rotten, like it had been left out on the counter overnight or something, and he couldn't finish eating it--which is highly unusual for him. The lettuce in my salad looked like it had been taken out of the garbage. It was sickening. As soon as it was placed in front of me a huge brown piece of lettuce was poking out of the middle...I don't see how they missed it. Upon further digging, most of the lettuce was rust-colored around the edges or with brown spots throughout. The shredded cheese in the salad tasted worse than the cheapest generic brand you can find at a salvage food store. I had my husband try the cheese to be sure it wasn't me. So I picked at any good bits of the salad I could find but barely ate anything, so we were both glad we had already had a decent appetizer. His fries were good so we shared those. The waitress never came back to ask how the food was. If she had, we at least would have had a chance to say something. She put down our drink refills and went about her business never taking the time to see how things were. We were both still hungry so we thought about ordering dessert but the waitress never came back to ask if we needed anything. When she finally returned she brought the check and didn't even offer to bring a box for either of our leftovers. Not that I would have taken the nasty salad home with me, but it's only courteous to ask. Looking at the check she had charged the full $7 for a salad without the chicken. We spent nearly $40 just to walk out with a bad taste in our mouths.

You can save a lot of money on the specials. I'll go ahead as say that right now. I wasn't aware of them until I got inside, and realized I should have gone that day. That being said the food is pretty good, and everyone is well mannered. Beyond that there isn't really much to say. Lots of that sports bar feel here, and the booths are nicely seated away from the riff raff. Kudos.
