The Board of Education of City of Marietta announces the appointment of Dr. Grant Rivera as the new Superintendent of Marietta City Schools (MCS). This announcement followed a unanimous board vote at a special called board meeting this morning. Dr. Rivera, currently the Chief of Staff for Cobb County School District (CCSD), will take over as MCS Superintendent effective January 1, 2017, immediately following Dr. Emily Lembeck’s retirement effective December 31, 2016.

“Dr. Rivera's overall experience, his understanding of the Cobb/Marietta Community and his passion to be a collaborative superintendent for Marietta made him a strong candidate from the beginning,” said MCS Board Chair Jason Waters. “We believe he has the expertise to work effectively with the board, the staff, and community to lead Marietta City Schools.”
