Winter is approaching and here in the north we are putting our garden beds to rest. This is the time to nourish your garden with compost and start planning your spring garden. Take note of what worked this year and grow from there.
Having your own fresh vegetables can be easy and fun!  Even if you don't have the space you can give it a try.  Pick up some seeds at the grocery store next time you go.  My pick for this time of year would be some type of leafy green that will be ready in late fall.  Try mustard or kale, swiss chard or even beets.  Put the seeds in your patio or balcony planter that gets a lot of sun.  By late fall you will be able to pick delicious home grown greens to add to your soups, stews, or fall salads.  Plus if you plant beets you get to eat the greens then roast the beets for a fall side dish. Roasted beets not your thing?  Try this, after they are cooked and slightly cool toss them with your favorite vinaigrette and refrigerate.  Chilled beets taste great in a salad!

I have heard Joy Bauer advise lower carb intake at dinner time for weight loss. Does anyone have the science behind this?

Professional input would be appreciated. Tips or ideas to teach someone actually how to eat healthfully? Truly a limited world of nutrition and anxiety surrounding the idea of shopping, cooking and trying new food items. Thanks

Great piece on NBCNews.com about the Fenway Farm. People will eat real food when it tastes great!
