It's as much about cheap as it is about a good company to work with.  I've found namecheap to be such a breath of fresh air after dealing with godaddy in the past that I'm very happy with them.

TAMPA, Fla. — Most of Maine’s delegates walked out of the Republican National Convention on Tuesday afternoon and said they will boycott the rest of the event after failing to overturn a ruling that removed half the state’s delegates pledged to support Ron Paul.

The Republicans will use any trick, no matter how slimy, even against their own party members to get what they want. There is simply no integrity left at all in their Party.

These kinds of shenanigans are not new nor are they limited to the RNC.  Back in 2008 the DNC was considering not allowing Michigan and Floridas delegates to be seated (based in part on pressure from inside the party too!).  Or back ~1980 when the DNC threatened to refuse Wisconsons delegates.

The "party leaders" always run the shows how they want and that's that. The average person like you or I have no say in whose designated as the party leadership nor do we have any input into how the parties are run.  So why would you expect there to be less control of how party events are run?!?

I have become entwined in the James Lee Burke "Dave Robicheaux" books. This despite have absolutely no frame of reference for New Orleans or Cajun life. The same holds true for HBO's "Treme" series, though at least that has good music.

I just finished "A Morning for Flamingos", the 4th in the series and I'm going through the books in the order they were written.

How un-Canadian....

Watch carefully about 10 seconds into this video.  You can see Melissa Tancredi of Canada step back and to the side with her left foot, tagging Carli Lloyd in the head.  It definitely looks deliberate.

The play happened just as the second half was starting, while the ref's back was turned and Lloyd was already on the ground.

Before I hear another Canada team fan complain about bad ref calls, consider how the team would have done if this has been properly called.  A red card would have taken this top player out for the game, leaving Canada playing a man down for nearly 40 minutes.

Another day spent in Java hell.    How is a library "helpful" that takes 50 lines of code to produce 10 lines of xml?   SAML 2.0 is one of those grossly overweight standards built on top of at least three other grossly overweight standards.  It's clear that the openSSL people who made the library I'm using believe in that same kind of ridiculous over engineering.   I'd like to punch, one at a time or in groups of up to three, all of the people involved in creating these monstrosities.

Matt Smith gets a special pass and travels to a crazy, high tech land populated by millions of angry, crazy, heavily armed people...... Is it a trip to the U.S. or a new Dr. Who episode?

Great start to the new Dr. Who series.

My 13 year old asked "How do they get the bar back up there?" while watching the pole vault event.

I explained that the sport is done at the same time as another, lesser known sport, called "synchronized pole climbing" in which two climbers must climb a thin post with as little wobble as possible while perfectly synchronized, each carrying one end of the pole vault bar.

She didn't buy it, so I admitted that there was a guy up on the roof with a fishing pole.

Introduction
I am younger than dirt, but older than trees. I have three children, a house, and a business. I write code in several languages and for several platforms, and frequently speak at conferences and trade shows.

I am also a a firefighter -- one of the 800,000 volunteer firefighters in the U.S. who protect more than 40% of its population. Not all cities are New York, and not all fire departments are FDNY. A great many of you are protected by regular people with real jobs who drop everything to come when you need us.
