Very much looking forward to participating in one of these! I missed the first one and it looks like a wonderful project. <3

Let's talk about running a business in the Gift Economy. I will share some of things I've done that have worked, and some of the things I've done that have failed. Questions welcome.

Topics for this week:
What do you mean by 'Gift Economy', anyway?

Why is a Gift Economy disruptive?

What 'old story' tools are helpful in running this 'new story' kind of business?
This Hangout On Air is hosted by Adrian Hoppel. The live video broadcast will begin soon.

I just picked up an old poem and made a spontaneous art song out of it! Dude! Does anyone have old poetry they'd let me creatively interpret on my guitar? I am having a freakin' BALL.

I am paying very close attention to the details of this article.

If the information here is true, we may actually be moving towards the "major shift" that many different sources (with many different worldview lenses) have been talking about for quite awhile now.

Whether that shift is our collective and individual emotional maturity and ability to interface compassionately and autonomously with one another... or whether that shift is physical and practical in terms of the abused masses drawing a line in the sand and saying No, we aren't going to let this continue... to me, it doesn't matter.

One informs and feeds the other; any shift that happens is practical and psychological at the same time.

My biggest question for myself is this: What exactly does it take for an individual... and a species... to wake up to their own capacity for self-responsibility and the kind of internally sourced empowerment that allows us to step up and do what needs to be done to help one another, to help the entire collective to thrive?

Like it or not, we're all in this together -- one way or another.

Barbara Garson, author most recently of ''Down the Up Escalator,'' talks about the unsustainable inequality we are spiraling into as capitalists forget they need redistribution to save their own system.
