I did a quick and dirty comparison between my Sony Alpha 65 DSLR (24 megapixels) and the +MEIZU #MX4 #ubuntuphone camera (20.7 megapixels).
I would still go for the DSLR at any time, but this is impressive. It might be good enough for all those "I can't be bothered to drag all my real equipment along for this occasion" moments.

Note that I compared the JPEG output from the DSLR with the JPEG output from the phone. I think I see lots of compression artifacts in the MX4 picture, maybe the compression level could be tuned, or even better, the phone could offer a RAW mode?Jun 17, 2015
Did you set the "quality" setting to "fine" in the MX4 camera app or leave it as "normal"?Jun 17, 2015
The RAW mode is very interesting, but I don't think that the phone camera could replace a DSLR... Nevertheless, if android has developed a RAW mode, ubuntuphone should go for it too.
Has this shot been made in good light conditions?Jun 17, 2015
+Mikel Larrea It's direct sunlight at about 10 AM.
+Alan Pope I left both devices with their standard settings. Just repeated some shots with the MX4 set to "fine", it doesn't improve things much, at least not with this motive.Jun 17, 2015
