Mom Fail: I failed as a mother. My identity is so wrapped up in that role that now I'm a failure as a person. And you know, what? That's a bunch of crap

Our February Book Basket

Our “Fun February” (as we termed it) Book Basket was full of mysteries, comedies, books about Greek librarians and how people croaked. It was a lively month for reading.

March 14th, Pi Day, has always been a favorite day of mine. Since my Calculus teacher in high school brought a pie to class, I have been enamored with the holiday. Ok, so maybe it’s more my love of pie, than Pi, but it’s still an awesome day.

A Pancake Queen, A Cookie King, jesters, dragons, potions…and math? Sleeping Queens sounded like a game we could all get into.

This quote is on my bedroom wall.

The idea was that each morning I would wake and look up to see these words of wisdom and use them to start my day. We’ve lived in this house for nearly three years and I, ashamedly, have to admit that I rarely notice these words in the mornings.
"Be still and know that I am God." This quote is on my wall so that each morning I will wake to see these words of wisdom and use them to start my day.

I was a high school math teacher. And what I learned from teaching all these angst-filled teenagers? Most of them hate math.

The Elf on the Shelf is my least favorite Christmas tradition. I will forever think horrible thoughts of the family who introduced my children to this insanity.
