That was a thing of beauty to watch. Thank you, Mr. Letterman, for this great remembrance.

That was simply beautiful. You outperformed MAN OF STEEL! (And I loved the wink at the camera at the very end!)

In the world of comic-books and superheroes, there exists the mantle of the Legacy Hero: a persona so awe-inspiring and mythic that it grows beyond the individual who creates it, and eventually is passed along to a worthy heir, who adds to the legend and passes it along in turn.

It is safe to say that James Brown - the Hardest Working Man in Show Business, Soul Brother Number One - created a legacy so powerful and primal that it could only possibly be surpassed by that of his most attendant pupil. The boy who danced in Brown's shadow. The man who walked on the moon and eclipsed everyone, including his mentor.

More colorful than any four-color character could wish to be, the Godfather of Soul and the King of Pop were both legacy heroes...and they were both superbad.

Two thumbs up, five stars, and A+ all the way for Row House Cinema! They get the things right that patrons need: eclectic film selections, friendly and helpful customer service, lots of brews to drink while watching your movie, yummy popcorn with real butter (that's important stuff, folks), all designed to bring you into their cozy 80-plus seat theater. The movies are typically grouped into themed weeks, and their choices are wonderfully unpredictable. From sci-fi to anime, Robin Williams to Schwarzenegger, Spielberg to Kurosawa, it's all in the mix. Come enjoy sell-out shows of films as diverse as 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, MY NEIGHBOR TUTORO, and BLADE RUNNER with audiences that appreciate the experience. Even the movie trailers are made by their staff. This is about as independent as local business gets! Row House is available for rental, in case you'd like to host an event there or show a movie of your choosing privately for guests (do it -- it's a LOT of fun!). You'll even get a customized marquee with it and the staff will bend over backwards to accommodate you. I did this for my birthday and it went over big time! Cautions: when they're busy, they're BUSY, and you may have to wait to get your movie tickets and concessions. Also, as diverse as their selections are, they still cater to a specific audience. It would be nice to see movie theme weeks which show an appeal to people outside of Lawrenceville and other demographics. We'll give it time and see if our favorite local theater continues to grow. In the meantime, it's lights, camera, and action...roll on down to Row House and have a seat. Just don't try taking mine...it's the one with my name on it!
