My husband and I had dinner at The Hill for the first time a couple weeks ago. Our server and the rest of the staff was very friendly and attentive, and we were especially impressed with how beautiful the plating was for the food! I ordered the Creekstone Farms Filet of Beef - the sides it came with really complemented each other; I really enjoyed the tanginess of the celery leaf salad, combined with the more savory flavor of the steak and mashed potatoes. The portions were just right, and I left full, but not sickeningly so. The atmosphere allowed for a more intimate dining experience, which I appreciated, as opposed to many restaurants that blare music so loud that you can't even hear the person next to you. My only criticism is that the Seared Ahi Tuna starter my husband ordered was VERY tiny. I'm sure we'll be return customers, though, when we're in the mood for a more upscale eating experience. :)

To all who may take the time to read this and consider The Hill as a worthy destination for an evening out; I have read all of the reviews about the restaurant. Some very good while others could definitely be better. I take all of the reviews very seriously and appreciate all of the kind things that have been said. I can assure you that they are graciously accepted and well received. But this is more so directed to the reviews that are not so flattering on us. This is my effort to restore any faith that has been lost, whether it is due to a poor experience or the fear of being let down based upon what you have heard. I employ you to come in and see us. The Hill has undergone a massive transformation. It started with our wonderful new owners, who's envision of potential, has been the driving force of what The Hill has the capacity of becoming. A newly renovated and completely redesigned dining room, bar, wine cellar, and kitchens (yes two! One upstairs and one down) have given us all a new found sense of eagerness to achieve the greatness that is to be expected. Along with that, I am proud to say that Chef Derek and myself have joined forces to do what most people consider impossible, by sharing the responsibilities and cooperatively reinventing the dining experience. We, along with our devoted and talented staff, have been working tirelessly to create a menu that is not only comprised of some of the best ingredients we can find, but also very mindful of the seasons, flavor pairings and profiles, sustainability, and presentation. That, paired with our experienced and knowledgeable service team, is a recipe for a fabulous, if not mind-changing, evening out. I can truly say, with no ego, that I believe that anyone who is to come in will be pleasantly surprised with the changes that have been made. Excellent overall experience! Cuisine was top notch, service was perfect. NY strip was amazing, scallops were perfectly prepared, risotto was en pointe, ahi appetizer was fantastic. I can't wait to go back!

Disappointing. I came here really wanting to like this place. The food was very expensive, but it was nothing special. Our server was incredibly rude and inattentive. Maybe that was because my group wasn't age 80+ like the rest of the crowd on life support here. Friend: "Could I get another water?" Server: no response, turns away. Friend: "Excuse me, could I get a refill on water?" Server: "Yeah yeah I heard ya!" My friends and I won't be returning here.

The ambience has something to be desired, just seemed to be a little lacking for a restaurant of this caliber. The crab bisque only had one piece of crab meat in the cup that I ordered which was very disappointing. It also had a piece of the crab shell and was just very lacking in flavor. For dinner I ordered the pan seared scallops that definitely brought this restaurant back for my palate. The scallops were cooked perfectly with a slight sear on the outside soft on the inside. The truffle risotto was an excellent addition to the dish and very flavorful. My husband ordered the New York strip steak that was one of the best steaks either of us had ever had. The 35 days that the steak had been aged for allowed it to be extremely tender, almost melts in your mouth. He also had the roasted garlic whipped potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts with shallots and pancetta that were both very good. Overall, we would go back if we were in the area but would not go out of our way for this restaurant.
