"As I browse through my Facebook feed looking for inspiration I often stumble upon artists creating things from materials I would never have considered.

Recently I discovered Jane Toy's work.

The success of her exhibition opening night at the Fine Arts Whanganui Gallery flooded my news feed.

I remember the first time I saw her work...

It was displayed as part of The Learning Connexion Advanced Diploma exhibition and it immediately captivated me.

I was enthralled by the delicacy of the thread work and impressed at the patience and dedication she must have had to seamlessly create those colour gradients.

For those who haven't seen it, Jane specializes in creating abstract works of art with optical twists.

She quite literally ‘draws’ and ‘paints’ with thread and wool.

Take a peek into Jane's world of colour."

Ben Hughes is a recent graduate of the Learning Connexion.

He has built up a freelance career illustrating fantasy game concept art.

This career choice didn't exist when Ben was a child.

What will be the new face of creative careers?

Oli Gedye's artwork combines the rich colours and raw textures of nature, the pitch of sounds within the forest. It is a meshing together of the intrinsic connection between nature and creativity. #art #nature #sculpture #music #chimes #kinetic

This piece is about land sales/swindles in Aotearoa, NZ. It’s a commentary about the division of land and how differences between individual ownership and collective ownership didn’t marry together very well. See more of Ben's work here: https://www.tlc.ac.nz/news/pretty-ugly-jewellery/

To take an image from another person and present that image as your own creation is wrong. You are being a copycat and, if caught, could land in hot water a.k.a. a lot of trouble.
