Fancy, trendy, AAA-grade place - usually with a waiting list. You can get some nice vanguard-fusion Japanese food. It's extremely expensive, specially if you ask for the tasting menu, with 10 different dishes. It's exotic, it's valid as an experience if you like trying exquisite stuff, and Morimoto has a high reputation among New Yorkers. However, if you usually like to eat regular simple food without "peculiar" presentations, as well peculiar ingredients, skip Morimoto.

Finally had dinner at Morimoto's NYC gem last month so I figured I'd share my experience at this elegant restaurant. I don't recall all the dish names but my friends and I were very impressed by the artwork the chef put out. The staff were very helpful in helping our vegetarian friends pick something out. We're were impressed by their dishes as well. We had an excellent break from the typical restaurants we tend to visit. Highly recommend them. Reservations are a must.

Went for a party with pre-fixed menus and it was all fantastic. The staff was attentive and pleasant. Drinks were great (there was a yuzu drink in particular). Highly recommend

Feels like a high end hotel restaurant; plays electronic house/lounge music; disappointing omakase; sushi (too salty and rice was not good; and not served piece by piece); but has some interesting salads and cooked foods; all at a very high price. Food presentation is great.

I was underwhelmed. I had a craving for oysters and sushi, so I was looking forward to this meal. However, the 1/2 dozen oysters I ordered were HUGE. Too big to fit in your mouth. I'd say they were at least 3 inches long and almost 2 inches wide. Less is more when it comes to oysters and I could only get down 4 of the 6 I ordered. For sushi, I always order a few pieces to see how it is before ordering more. I LOVE hamachi but I found the sushi here tough in texture versus melt in your mouth. I had the Copper Head Salmon (didn't finish the 1 small piece) and the hamachi. Neither piece was sublime, as one would expect from a place of this caliber. Since neither the sushi nor the oysters were hitting the spot I ordered the Duck Duck Duck, or duck 3 ways. It was ok. The croissant sandwich version was the only thing I really enjoyed. The roasted leg had little edible meat and the skin was flaccid. The egg was nice for dipping and I liked the red miso sauce as well. I was dining alone and I will say the service was on point and friendly.

This review is for lunch only. The sea bass was very tasty, 5 stars. But the eel/foie gras had too much rice and not enough substance. Our server was nice but not at all knowledgeable - quite disappointing service. Perhaps dinner would be better - we are hopeful as we liked the chef when we watched him on tv Iron Chef.

A little large, but great food and service. Be prepared for 100+ a person dinner, but it will certainly be worth it. Morimoto's recipes shine in his restaurant as they did in kitchen stadium. Get the rock shrimp tempura and the sashimi tasting platter. Fantastic cocktails, we skipped desert to have another cocktail or two

Try the perfectly truffle seasoned burrata and seared buttery scallop as apps. Can't go wrong with the turf as an entree so you can try the wagyu. The marshmallow dessert will light you up, literally.
