Columbia Games is giving away a free intro pdf/map to Harn.  It's not the map shown but a black and white version with no hex grid.  Around it is all sort of various information on the setting and the products available.  While Harn is way to costly for me to invest into this is still a nice quick overview of the setting.

Reposting for the evening crowd.  Finally after almost two years I sat down and wrote another Be A Better Player article.  This one is a bit short compared to some but it gets to the point.

It's been about two years.  So time for a new Be A Better Player article.  This time it's what to do when a character dies.

#analprobeted  This is so appropriate.

Dude is advertising for anal probing now.
You know that “TrusTed” logo? The one with TRUS and TED merged, yet separated via different colors? Turns out ...

+John Wick is tossing out previews for the upcoming 7th Sea second edition on the mailing list. The quite awesome picture included here is the mock up cover of the first sourcebook they are doing titled 'New World'. Oh ... hell... yes.

Even a bit more #cyberpunksunday  here.  This time on folks who have built their own private (and illegal in their country) internet.

An interview with Scott Palmer who was the force behind the original incarnation of West End Games.  Some interesting bits here.

I found it a great bit of lore that he regretted the Master Book System, and wished he'd simply kept every thing D6.

Just now noticed that all the first edition 7th Sea stuff is up over on John Wick Presents instead of AEG's store.  That sure a nice little chunk to his ebook inventory.

Guess I can mark Unknown Armies off this years list as well.  Evidently it's going to be a three book set in a slipcase that doubles as a GM screen.  Players may only need one book but the GM will need all three and they don't know if they are going to offer the players book separately or not.  I don't even want to imagine the cost on this thing.  I'm sorry bigger isn't always better.

Am I the only one who likes the idea of one core book is all that is necessary to run a game?  I've seen people complain that they can't get more folks playing their games but yet they seem to keep cranking up the initial investment costs needed to buy into it.

7th Sea is the last thing I'm watching.  Not sure how many core books it will have.  Probably two like the original edition but I hope not.

On the last bit there just verified that the 7th Sea RPG will have one core book.  Said they want it to be as easy as possible to buy into.  At least they have some horse sense.

I mean really a three book slipcase/game screen sound like a special limited edition of a game not it's regular printing.

A blog post from about a year ago.  I still stand by what I said to this day.  Although I haven't had much chance to actually exercise it.
Over on G+ a Swedish larper by the name of Elin Dalstal of recently mentioned something in one of her posts that I really liked. This is where the digging comes in. ”Dig where you stand!” is Swedish proverb. It means sort of...

Why is it that when you don't like a particular game system that it's fans think that there is something you just don't "get" about it?  That everyone should absolutely like it as well and they would if they just understood it the way they do.  They act like you don't like it because you have some sort of mental block or general lack of knowledge keeping you from it.

Do they go through their lives thinking this about everyone who disagrees with their opinion?  Or do they only do this about games?  I ask this because I've had four people tell me that I just don't get 'Apocalypse World' or anything 'powered by the Apocalypse'.

I'm not hopping on the new edition.  Especially since they seem to think that PbtA 'fades' into the background when running a game.  When it is very much a 'in the front in your face' system.

Over worked, over weight, stressed out, worn out.

Basically I'm an old school gamer (meaning I use dice and pencils instead of a xbox controller) who still has fond memories of the times when I used to be able to actually play them.

Also a single father raising two children 24/7.  The only time I don't have them is when I'm at work and they are at daycare/school.

Sometimes my sentences make no sense since my hands and brain operate at different speeds.

Specialty circles: RPG, POLITICS and probably one or two I've thought up after posting this.  There were a few more but they are gone now.  If you would like in one let me know although I usually post everything in PUBLIC.  But sometimes I get specific.
