Just got back from a great family vacation to New York City. My kids are reaching the age where they will soon start heading off to college, so it was it was probably our last vacation where they are all living at home.

As a photographer, it was a pretty frustrating trip. We had a pretty tightly packed schedule, which usually meant we were never at places when the light was right, and I couldn't spend 20 minutes getting a shot just right. I got a lot of great memory shots, but not much in the way of artistic shots.

This was probably the one I liked the best, and it was a rushed shot just as we got into town.

some shots from my kids high school Spring Pop Show. Lots of fun to shoot moving targets in really low light. :)

More actors headshots from this weekend. I like to shoot for some "straight" shots, and some to show range/personality.

Shot some actor headshots over the weekend. I'm not Peter Hurley, but I have watched his videos :)

This is Lindsey, Laura's sister. She's a friend of my daughter, who has acted with her. I think I'll also be doing some senior pictures for her.

I occasionally shoot headshots for some of my actor friends.

Michael is a great character actor. We've done some comedies together, including one where he played a 90 year old.

After getting Facebook tagged recently in some truly horrible picture, I'm thinking of spending the holidays putting together a (semi) humorous guide to posting pictures on Facebook. Write up some general guidelines with some funny pictures to illustrate.

Maybe do some 2 picture composites of do's and don'ts, like:
Left side - picture of man at party talking to someone and laughing - ok to post
Right side - same picture, but mostly out of focus - not ok to post

or
Right Side - similar picture, but man's mouth is open in a weird expression, he's mid blink - not ok to post

or sets, like:

me sitting at a party with my wife on my lap - OK to post
me sitting at a party with someone else's wife on my lap (legs across mine) - probably not OK to post, unless you've restricted it to people at the party
me sitting with someone else's straddling me kissing - definitely not OK to post, what the hell are you thinking?

I don't see this here, because I mostly follow photographers, but on Facebook its rampant. Its like people feel they should post every frame they take, even if there's nothing interesting in the picture or the quality is terrible.

One guideline I want to include is: Unless you are a paparazzi working for the enquirer, when posting a picture you should ask, "does this flatter (or at least reasonably represent) the subject, who is supposed to be my friend?"

Ideas? (Besides quit Facebook, even if I'm not there the pictures are still posted :) )
