Smoke in the sky from wild land fires, marine layer moisture and heat contributed to warping the circularity of the "Strawberry Moon" as it rose this June Solstice of the jetty at the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor and Walton Lighthouse. I blended two exposures from the same tripod position to avoid blowing out the detail on the moon while revealing more of the foreground with a longer exposure.

Atop Coxcomb Hill, high above Astoria Oregon, this replica of a Chinook burial canoe was erected as a memorial to Chief Comcomly, who lived nearby at the time of the arrival of Lewis & Clark. It overlooks the town and along with the confluence of the Youngs, Lewis & Clark, and Columbia rivers where the Columbia meets the Pacific.

The Youngs comes into the frame on the left, Lewis & Clark enters above the canoe, while the mighty Columbia flows seaward from the right, passing below the Astoria-Megler bridge connecting Astoria to Washington.
