I've attempted to measure how long it takes C, Go, #python   and Scala to go round a loop once, increment a number and print it to the terminal. The results weren't quite what I was expecting.

What I got up to over the weekend. Also - I'm changing from this account to rikard@anglerud.com- the account below.
I wrote an exponential smoothing generator in #python , and wrote up a little blog entry about it. Code included.

Offset by +Benoit Chesneau is an implementation of the Go concurrency model in #python and is one of the most exciting things I've come across in a long while.

Have a look at the examples in the linked git repo and the presentation at https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2gNkR7hgkIRVFgwSWR4Y2JaZHc/preview?pli=1&forcehl=1&hl=en

Found in cloudera's hadoop startup scripts:

perl -pi -e 's#{{CMF_CONF_DIR}}#/var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process/1727-hdfs-NAMENODE#g' /var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process/1727-hdfs-NAMENODE/topology.py

Yep, that's using perl in place of sed to inject a configuration variable into a python script. I feel dirty just having read that.

This is one of the best little tools I've found in a while - this lets you reconnect interactive sessions like ssh after network dropouts or network changes such as switching between wifi networks.

Wrote a blog post about how I used Pelican to update my website. Pelican (written in #python ) is a static site generator, which makes it a whole lot easier for me to work with my website contents - it's just a bunch of plain text files.

I just bumped into Parsley, a PEG parser library for #python  which looks great. So far it seems much easier than any other library I've used. I look forward to using it a bit more.

Some fantastic imagery captured of the launch platform of Apollo 11, and good commentary about what is going on.
The first 5 seconds of Apollo 11, filmed at 500fps with awesome commentary.  I just spent 8 awesome minutes with my 5 year old watching the coolest thing I will see today.
