Plans to make a scenic overlook in Antrim County more accessible are moving forward.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says Deadman's Hill in Warner Township will be closed to traffic from June 6th until June 10th while they add gravel to the entrance, parking lot and exit of the trailhead to help with erosion issues and poor road conditions.
Plans are moving forward to make a scenic overlook in Antrim County more accessible.

Celebrating birthdays can get pretty pricey.

But a new program being offered through the Father Fred Foundation in Traverse City is making it possible for people who might not normally be able to afford to celebrate their special day.

From supplying furniture to stocking up the pantry --Father Fred can do it all.

9&10 News' Adora Namigadde has more details on how this great program is bringing smiles to people in need.
A Northern Michigan non-profit is helping people in need celebrate their birthdays. It can get expensive, but the Father Fred Foundation in Traverse City doesn't want anyone to miss out.

The body of a father was recovered from Gull Lake after he was trying to rescue his 15-year-old son over the weekend.

Danyelle Phillips jumped into the lake Saturday to save his son.

Someone else grabbed his son from the water, but Phillips disappeared.

His body was found Sunday night.
West Michigan search teams have recovered the body of a father who was trying to rescue his 15 year old son.

MacFarlane Road in Leelanau County is currently closed between Bow and Plowman due to a failed culvert.

As of right now, the road commission does not have a timetable for when the repairs will be finished.

Detours are posted in the area.
If you're heading out the door in Leelanau County, we have a road closure to tell you about.

Pugsley Correctional Facility in Kingsley is closing.

According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, the prison will be closing in September.

MDOC says efforts to reduce the state’s prison population, along with declining numbers of new prison commitments has led to the ability to close the facility as part of the 2016-17 fiscal year budget.

The Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) has released the results of their 2013 Broadcast Awards. WWTV-WWUP/TV 9&10 News received Station of the Year in addition to 12 other awards. This is more than any other television station in their category which includes stations from Traverse City, Cadillac, Lansing and Jackson.
