Marshall McLuhan would have been 100 years old today, but our clients still need to be aware that the medium is the message. If the resume is the medium - what does it reflect? Attitude, work ethic, computer literacy etc.? Are they keeping current? Should the resume BE the primary medium? Is it only text? How are they using social media? Other media? Hmmm. I see another workshop coming.

"Listening is a magnetic and strange thing, a creative force. The friends who listen to us are the ones we move toward. When we are listened to, it creates us, makes us unfold and expand." Karl A. Menninger (b. 07/22/1893)

Listen...
So simple, so effective. Clients crave the validity and understanding of having been heard. They do unfurl, gain confidence, achieve more.

Employers also need to know that their message is heard, that their needs are understood.

These days listening isn't just auditory. It is also reading, following, responding and confirming. In short, anything that boils down to understanding the perspective, motives and experiences of someone else.

So how are we helping our clients to listen?

Introduction
I restore pride. Tell me your story. I'll help you identify your skills, talents and accomplishments. Problem solving is my forte, so together we can explore the tools with which you can build your path to employment.

An early adopter of innovation and technology, I was the first full time online employment counsellor in Canada (Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work, 1997) and have developed content for and maintained several career and employment websites from startup onwards.

"In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being."
~ Albert Schweitzer
