I just finished preparing the Social Media Committee report, which will be included in the President's Report for the Convention BOG meeting. Here are the numbers for Google+:

The +National Speleological Society page was placed in the circles of 126 additional people in the last 5 months, representing an increase of 28%.

In that same time, 16 people joined this group, representing a 13% growth.

Please visit the Social Media Committee webpage to learn more about how the Committee can help you or your grotto spread the word: http://caves.org/committee/sm/

I really love the work that +Allen Maddox is doing as Chair of the +National Speleological Society Youth Group Liaison Committee. If you have questions or need guidance to get youth underground, he's the guy to ask. And, he makes great videos!

Happy 2014, cavers! As I prepare the quarterly Social Media Committee report, I wanted to share some numbers with you. 449 users now have the +National Speleological Society in their circles, and this community has 112 members. This represents a quarterly percent change of 17.8% and 14%, respectively. Thanks for your support! Happy caving!

I am glad there are 449 users in the NSS Circle.    My only concern is are any of them spammers.    I hope there are not any.    To the best of my knowledge there were not any when the number was around 300 users.    My definition of a Google+ spammer is somebody who puts thousands of people in his Circle, but only has a handful of users that put him in their circle, ( and even his friends could be fakes ).

Check out this awesome visualization tool for understanding geologic time. Exactly what is 4.6 billion years... or 13.7 billion years?
