Had the chance to shoot with this hottie. I was shocked with her hard working spirit. She has to be the first model we worked with that helped us out cleaning on set after the shoot.

We shot at Metroflex Fitness Gym in Long Beach California. The team over there was really helpful and accommodating. Will definitely shoot there again.

So this girl came in from Canada specifically to shoot fitness pics down here in California. Her focus, dedication and appreciation for the things one may take for granted when living here was a very refreshing perspective. This girl will go places and we can't wait to see what comes next for her.

The final Digital Model of the Protoss Probe created by Chung Kang for the latest Starcraft 2 "Legacy of the Void" trailer.

During the modeling phase and final design stage of the Probe, Chung and I explored the idea of creating overlapping shadow play from having pieces a bit elevated from one another so they could cast shadows on themselves.

This often create an impression of detail because of the superimposition of forms revealed through shadow play. This became crucial especially in the rear thruster area where we knew a light source would be placed in later on…

The final Digital Model of the Protoss Probe created by Chung Kang for the latest Starcraft 2 "Legacy of the Void" Cinematic trailer.

Chung really did a fantastic job at ceasing the essence of the original concept while delivering a production geometry of the highest quality in terms of its confection.
It was really fun to work on this model as it really was a team effort. While we would get guidance from our VFX Producers on how much time we had allocated to this task, Director Ben Dai would share with us the camera angles he had in mind so that we could evaluate where to put the details on this model. As you can see, the Probe's under belly is a little bit less define for the reason that we never see it on screen.

To be continued...

A quick Digital Sculpture I had the chance to create under my capacities of Art Director on the latest Starcraft 2 Cinematic. This head bust was a proposal for a new Zealot face direction which was more devilish looking.

I remember the days I was wishing to use 3D as the main medium for my concept art. It felt intimidating as a lot of the 3D programs looked deep and complicated to learn. But this was a lie, that came from fear of the unknown. Watching youtube videos over my lunch break almost everyday, slowly started to make the software feel more and more like a familiar place. Eventually becoming part of my artillery.

I often get asked what are good tips to break in the industry. A good one that was passed on to me from a great teacher at Gnomon was to open up a software and look for yourself. Click down one of the menu, go in the help menu and read what this function does. It takes about 5min. A day being 24 hours, this is about 0.003% of your day, or the same time it took you to read this post. Launch youtube, type in ZBrush and Go! Go create something cool. You'll feel great!

A Digital Painting I had the chance to create under my role of VFX Art Director on Blizzard's Starcraft 2 Legacy of the Void Cinematic.

The design was about proposing an updated look to the Protoss race that would give the animators more eye size on screen to perform a wider range of facial expressions since the original design doesn't have a mouth element.

A Digital Painting I did during my time on Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty. The original design of the arm was done by joe Peterson, a good friend of mine with whom I use to share an office with at the time. The digital 3D model was later on completed by Kenson Yu.
