Do you know that insects don’t grow? They need to moult in order for them to grow! Moulting is a process where insects shed or casted off so that a new growth would take place. Insect bones are outside of their body (this external skeleton is known as exoskeliton) which is also the reason why insects’ skin is not stretchable. So growing would not be possible without moulting. When they moult the old skin splits and then they fly away from the skin. During this process, the insects will have a new and fresh covering with some changes in their color and appearance. They are very weak at this stage but will soon recover and develop their strong shell. Insects moult several times in their early stage until they finally reach their adult stage. #thebugsquad
